Daikin Applied is seeking a full-time Welder / Pipefitter Apprentice. In this role, you will be responsible for welding, pipe fitting, and supporting the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical systems. The responsibilities will increase based on exposure to tasks, ability to develop troubleshooting skill sets, and consistent and accurate completion of assignments. The systems you will be working on include but are not limited to hydronic piping, refrigerant piping, steam systems, chiller plants, and boiler installations. Location: Bowie, MD - Onsite

What you will do:
  • Assist in the installation, fabrication, and assembly of piping systems for commercial HVAC equipment including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and air handling units
  • Perform welding tasks including MIG, TIG, and stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper piping systems
  • Cut, thread, bend, and fit pipe to specifications using hand and power tools
  • Support the maintenance and inspection of mechanical systems to identify potential problems and prevent premature or unexpected failures
  • Assist in analyzing system performance data to ensure optimal operation of piping and mechanical systems
  • Perform warranty service support by inspecting and testing piping systems to verify functionality and integrity
  • Support the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC piping systems under the direction of journeymen and foremen
  • Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
  • Interact with customers by providing status updates on work progress before, during, and after each assignment
  • Participate in available training through regional trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning programs; maintain all required certifications and continue developing new skill sets
  • Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and cleanliness of the work area are always upheld
  • Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures
  • Potential travel requirements with some overnight travel

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Enrollment in or completion of a registered Welder/Pipefitter Apprenticeship program; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic knowledge of welding and pipefitting techniques, or willingness to learn
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
  • Rotational Emergency Call Support as required
  • Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience or coursework in welding, pipefitting, or plumbing in a commercial or industrial setting
  • Familiarity with HVAC mechanical systems and hydronic piping
  • OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
  • Current first aid / CPR card
  • AWS (American Welding Society) certification or equivalent

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $33.10 - $48.00 in DC/MD. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
