Overview

The Outreach Consultant III is a senior-level outreach role supporting JCP&L's Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency Programs. This position includes advanced outreach responsibilities and serves as a strategic contributor responsible for leading sector-focused outreach efforts, supporting pipeline development, and driving performance against program goals.

The Outreach Consultant II works closely with contractors, trade allies, program staff, and customers to increase participation in energy efficiency programs. This role requires a high degree of autonomy and judgment, with responsibility for identifying high-potential opportunities, converting leads into viable projects, and supporting the delivery of energy savings across assigned market sectors or territories.

In addition to executing outreach activities, the Outreach Consultant II provides subject matter expertise related to outreach strategy and methodology, supports KPI tracking and reporting, assists with planning and process improvements, and provides informal guidance to junior staff. The role balances hands-on outreach with strategic coordination and cross-functional collaboration to ensure program objectives are met.

The selected candidate must reside in New Jersey and be available for regular travel within their assigned territory.


Responsibilities

Core Outreach Responsibilities

The Outreach Consultant III performs all prior Outreach Consultant duties, including supporting outreach execution, data collection, analysis, reporting, and participation in training and development activities. This role works closely with cross-functional teams, including Program Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Reporting, to identify outreach opportunities and ensure program alignment.

Responsibilities include attending and presenting at trade shows and events, preparing outreach and educational materials, supporting customer and Trade Ally engagement, coordinating approved outreach purchases, and contributing to reports and project deliverables while meeting schedule and budget expectations.

Senior-Level Outreach & Strategic Responsibilities

The Outreach Consultant III independently plans and executes standard outreach tasks with limited oversight and performs increasingly complex work aligned with program priorities. This role develops sector- and domain-specific expertise, identifies and converts high-potential leads, and supports pipeline development across assigned market segments.

Additional responsibilities include tracking and reporting KPIs, contributing to annual outreach planning, supporting operational documentation and process improvements, and ensuring program goals are met. The Outreach Consultant III assists with training, shadowing, and mentoring of junior staff and provides guidance during execution of standard outreach tasks.

  • Customer Engagement: Engage with the client's customers, engineers, and contractors to identify and communicate energy savings opportunities through incentive and rebate program offerings.
  • Strategic Outreach and Networking: Develop and execute compelling outreach campaigns targeting various sectors and markets. Attend tradeshows, local meetings, give presentations/webinars and attend events, both virtually and in-person, to network and educate New Jersey businesses on the benefits of program participation. Aid in developing and executing a comprehensive outreach plan for the program's brand and message.
  • Market Analysis and Intelligence: Provide sector intelligence by analyzing trends and summarizing data within specified markets.
  • Customer Outreach Opportunity Identification: Identify outreach opportunities by understanding customer requirements and analyzing how the program can effectively reach its target audience.
  • CRM Database Management: Manage and track campaigns, opportunities, activities, and contacts in real time using the program's CRM database.
  • Project Forecasting: Work collaboratively with operations and project coordination staff to provide insights for accurate project forecasting and market intelligence reports.

Qualifications

  • Education and Background: Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required in sustainability, business, marketing, construction management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in outreach, sales, project management, or a customer-facing role within the energy efficiency or building sectors.
  • Residency and Transportation: New Jersey residency required. As this role requires travel, candidate must possess a personal vehicle and an unencumbered driver's license (mileage reimbursed).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent public speaking and written communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and the ability to learn and operate TRC/client designed customer relationships management (CRM) system
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, with experience in developing reports, meeting deadlines and managing resources effectively.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of LEED, ENERGY STAR, and/or GRESB is a plus. Familiarity with CRM software for campaign tracking and reporting.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual speaking and translation skills are a plus.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
