Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Assistant to join our research team. Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator, you will contribute to innovative research projects by performing complex experiments, analyzing data, and supporting the development of new methodologies. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, independent research, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to advance scientific knowledge in [molecular biology, mitochondrial biology/ cardiology, and or heart failure].

Key Responsibilities

  • Research & Experimentation

    • Design, plan, and execute research projects following established protocols and contribute to experimental optimization.

    • Perform advanced laboratory techniques, including RT-PCR, histology, mRNA extraction, chromatography, and electrophoresis.

    • Prepare and maintain culture media, reagents, and experimental models (including animal handling and injections).

    • Conduct assays, sterilize equipment, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

  • Data Analysis & Documentation

    • Compile, process, and analyze experimental data using statistical and computational tools.

    • Maintain accurate records of research procedures and results; prepare reports and manuscripts for publication.

    • Utilize electronic data systems for coding, input, and retrieval of research data.

  • Laboratory Operations

    • Set up and operate scientific instruments such as spectrophotometers, centrifuges, incubators, homogenizers, and microscopes.

    • Oversee routine lab maintenance, including equipment calibration and minor repairs.

    • Manage inventory and order laboratory supplies.

  • Collaboration & Training

    • Assist in supervising and training new technicians, graduate students, and fellows.

    • Participate in team meetings, contribute to grant applications, and engage in scholarly discussions.

  • Administrative Support

    • Prepare correspondence, bibliographies, and research documentation.

    • Complete institutional forms and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Postdoctoral Fellow: Ph.D. in [relevant field, e.g., Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology].

    • Research Assistant: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science or related discipline.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong knowledge of molecular and cellular biology techniques.

    • Proficiency in data analysis and scientific writing.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.

    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mitochondrial biology and lipid and heart failure research.

  • Familiarity with advanced imaging and bioinformatics tools.

  • Prior experience mentoring junior staff or trainees.
