What You Can Expect

As Director of Hardware Application Engineering, you will lead Marvell's Hardware Customer Solutions team in Santa Clara, overseeing the design, validation, and deployment of high-performance reference and customer platforms based on Marvell networking and connectivity silicon.

You will build and manage a team of experienced board and system engineers and SI/PI experts responsible for hardware architecture, design execution, bring-up, validation, and customer enablement. This role combines technical depth with leadership excellence-requiring strategic direction, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on engagement with both internal design teams and external customers.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring successful customer adoption of Marvell's silicon, from early design through production, while upholding Marvell's reputation for technical excellence and customer commitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a high-performing hardware engineering team supporting North American and global customers in system design, validation, and integration.

  • Drive architecture and design of reference boards, evaluation platforms, and customer-specific hardware implementations leveraging Marvell's ASICs, Ethernet switches, and PHYs.

  • Oversee Customer schematic and PCB design activities, ensuring optimal performance, manufacturability, and reliability in high-speed systems.

  • Simulate validate and guide Customers throghout their high speed SI/PI simulations and thermal design - and provide advice and guidance for best in calass design that can get them into production

  • Guide system bring-up and validation, including signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal validation using industry-standard lab equipment and methods.

  • Partner with Software, Silicon Design, Packaging, and Operations to deliver integrated solutions and seamless customer experiences.

  • Provide technical leadership during customer engagements, supporting design reviews, issue resolution, and lab debug.

  • Drive continuous improvement in hardware methodologies, tools, and best practices, ensuring quality and consistency across projects.

  • Participate in customer design-in reviews and lead technical discussions to guide customers through Marvell hardware integration.

  • Manage project schedules, priorities, and deliverables to ensure on-time, first-time-right hardware execution.

  • Contribute to product definition and roadmap planning with architecture and marketing teams, influencing future Marvell solutions.

  • Collaborate globally across Marvell's engineering sites and Customer Solutions teams to align strategies, share expertise, and deliver cohesive support.

  • Represent Marvell's hardware expertise in executive reviews, customer briefings, and industry events as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • PHD,Masters degree or Bachelor's Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.

  • 15+ years of experience in hardware design, development, and validation of high-speed systems for networking, compute, or related domains.

  • 7+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including people management, hiring, and mentoring.

  • Proven track record in high-speed board/system design involving Ethernet, PCIe, DDR, SerDes, and advanced power architectures.

  • Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, signal/power integrity validation, and root-cause debug.

  • Strong understanding of system-level requirements, mechanical constraints, and manufacturing processes.

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines and geographies.

  • Customer-facing experience supporting complex technical engagements and resolving issues in real-world deployments.

Preferred:

  • Experience in networking ASIC or switch platform development and familiarity with Marvell's ecosystem or equivalent.

  • Background in reference board design and customer enablement for silicon-based platforms.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including test, reliability, and qualification at ODM/CM sites.

  • Experience working with Tier-1 data center, cloud, or telecom customers.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)

176,130 - 263,900, $ per annum

The successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
