A Test Automation Engineer will contribute to the full scope of test automation goals and process by identifying where automation can add the highest level of value, then designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts. The Test Automation Engineer will collaborate with others, to identify and design the test scripts that would yield the highest level of value for the company. There will be opportunities to partner with other IT personnel, including managing projects, to build, maintain, and execute the scripts going forward. The Engineer will be a designer, builder, and executor of automated test scripts, thereby creating a library that can be periodically utilized to perform key testing operations for the bank in a much more efficient manner than a manual process allows.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary Duties:
  • Design & develop test automation framework, library & scripts utilizing the UFT, Selenium, and other automation tools provided to engineer.
  • Provides training & mentoring on tools and processes.
  • Apply automated tools to support upcoming and ongoing application testing across projects following the guidelines defined in the ASD criteria.
  • Access to multiple applications across the bank and automating test scripts that meet the criteria defined in the ASD to be considered for automation.
  • Review existing regression script repository to look for specific scripts that meet the criteria in the ASD and should be considered for automation and automation of same.
  • Assess and provide cross platform, cross tool automation solutions to expand development delivery models.
  • Works collaboratively with other groups to understand project objectives, gather automation requirements if any, design automated tests, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Manage the project process including: collaborating with internal and external contacts, developing proposals, creating a project plan, managing resources to tasks, maintaining deadlines, influencing people, and presenting findings.
  • Maintain automated scripts throughout the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
  • Identify, present, and implement ways to capture Return on Investment (ROI) of automation development so as to demonstrate the script's value to improving a manual process currently employed at the bank.
  • Additional Duties:
  • Continuous process improvement - Focuses on standardizing and optimizing automation tools and methodology based on foundation defined in ASD, including updating and maintaining ASD as improvements are implemented.
  • Look for opportunities for improvements to test automation strategies as application life cycles change and progress.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a financial, business or systems field of study or equivalent experience
  • 3 to 5 years of banking or business systems experience
  • 5 years of experience in computer programming or test automation is preferred
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and techniques with proven management, project management, programming and team building skills
  • An understanding of strategy and tactical views and planning processes
  • Corporate, Division and Departmental level change management capabilities
  • Ability to establish alliances with other departments and organizations and maintain a high level of credibility with all levels of internal and external staff
  • Knowledge of VBScript, HP Quality Center, Unified Functional Tester, & Selenium are preferred with exposure to DB technologies including data structures and SQL
  • Understanding of Web Services including SOAP, XML, REST and JSON
  • Familiarity with mainframe processing including 3270 screens
  • Proficient in Microsoft Professional Office experience including Word, Access, Excel, Project management tools and other related software
  • Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, reading, planning, business management, and multitasking skills; ability to understand and solve complex problems
  • Ability to work without supervision

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
