Job Summary

The Senior Compliance Investigator conducts Privacy and Compliance investigations at UC Davis Health as directed by the Chief Compliance/Privacy Officer and the Compliance Investigations Manager. This role supports the University's obligation to review allegations of improper activity in accordance with University policy and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Conducting complex investigations involving privacy breaches, fraud and abuse, drug diversion, improper business practices, billing irregularities, and healthcare compliance matters.
* Identifying issues, interviewing witnesses, collecting and analyzing documentation, and applying relevant laws and institutional policies.
* Preparing clear, concise investigative reports with well-supported findings.
* Maintaining accurate investigation records and documentation related to complaint resolution.
* Partnering with departments and leadership to identify non-compliance trends, develop and monitor corrective action plans, and prevent recurrence.
* Ensuring investigative activities comply with applicable policies, standards, and confidentiality requirements.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload a license and/or certification if required for the position

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Law, Health Care, or a related field, and/or equivalent education/training/experience
  • Experience performing investigations, including interviewing witnesses and accused individuals
  • Experience drafting narrative reports of investigations, including an articulate analysis of facts and findings
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent investigations and assignments in a highly regulatory environment
  • Skilled in delivering complex information with clarity in oral and written formats
  • Experienced in delivering outcomes both through individual accountability and collective teamwork

Preferred Qualifications

  • Compliance Certification Board (CCB) Certifications: Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC)
  • Juris Doctor or Master's degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Public Health, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a health care environment
  • Expert knowledge of federal and state privacy regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of health care law
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures

Work Environment

  • UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco-free campus effective January 1, 2014.
