Position Overview

The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This list of duties is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all the functions and responsibilities performed.

Position Summary:
Under general supervision, perform a variety of miscellaneous unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled labor. Transport furniture, office equipment, and related items within the University campus and off campus as needed. Routinely interact with all constituents in the campus community.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for university moves and setup for events
  • Perform miscellaneous repair, labor, moves and maintenance work at the assistant level
  • Operate vehicle to transport materials and equipment
  • Sharpen, clean, and care for tools and equipment
  • Carry materials and assist with moving heavy objects
  • Clean up after completing a job
  • Predictable and regular attendance required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to mowing or carpentry tasks

Minimum Job Requirements:

High school diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of one-year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. A valid NM driver's license is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write, and understand oral and written instructions
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow routine instructions both verbal and written
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate mechanical forklifts, lift gate and platform
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed both inside and outside and may involve extremes of hot or cold temperatures
  • Work requires conditions which involve exposure to noise and vibration, fumes, dust, odors and toxic situations that may be hazardous
  • Work is heavy in nature with 100 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry
  • Work requires climbing and/or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling, reaching, handling, using hands or fingers, and seeing
  • Must have the physical dexterity to operate a variety of equipment with proper training
