Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $96,514 - $127,886. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team. As a Manufacturing Engineer III, you'll be crucial in ensuring continued innovation and supporting our diverse team.

The Manufacturing Engineer III leads manufacturing engineering projects with minimal oversight, often implementing new machines or rebalancing lines. They provide strong technical expertise and project management skills. They are subject matter experts in tooling, automation, and programming, along with the ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Project Execution: Lead manufacturing engineering projects from design through implementation, including equipment installation and process redesign. Define scope, manage timelines, and coordinate with internal departments and external suppliers.
  • Process Optimization: Design and document manufacturing processes, standards, and tooling. Drive improvements in safety, quality, design, and cost metrics by analyzing production data and implementing changes that enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Tooling & Automation Expertise: Develop and implement specialized tools and machines for fabrication and assembly. Apply knowledge of PLC and programming to support automation and technological integration.
  • Equipment Management: Manage equipment upgrades and replacements, including direct engagement with suppliers. Ensure that the equipment now meets performance, safety, and ergonomic standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Drive interdepartmental collaboration to align engineering efforts with production, maintenance, product engineering, and quality objectives. Serve as a technical resource and liaison across teams.
  • Team Development: Coach and mentor junior engineers through informal learning sessions and project collaboration. Foster team development and knowledge sharing within the engineering group.
  • Problem Solving: Lead practical problem-solving (PPS) efforts to address safety, quality, and efficiency issues. Implement sustainable corrective actions and communicate decisions effectively to production teams.
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

Education & Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Certifications & Licenses:

Preferred

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Required:

  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Great problem-solving skills and able to communicate across some levels of the organization related to concepts of supply chain, production, and manufacturing.
  • A great understanding of various manufacturing technologies and methods, preferably within the electronics manufacturing industry.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Great communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation), able to partner with and communicate with customers, both technical and non-technical.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.
  • Good organizational planning, coordinating internal and external resources, and juggling key demands.
  • Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed actions, solve complex problems, and drive learning.
  • Great computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Power BI, or other similar systems. Including great data analysis skills.

Major Physical Demands:

Sitting - Continuously required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks.

Walking - Occasionally required to walk moderate distances.

Manual Dexterity - Infrequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment.

Ascending / Descending - Occasionally ascending or descending ladders/stairs/scaffolding/ramps/poles.

Observation / Eyesight - infrequently required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.

Communication - Continuously required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls

Travel - Infrequently required to travel and work extended hours when necessary. May be required to travel overnight and internationally.

Environmental & Hazardous Conditions:

Continuously working indoors/outdoors in an air-conditioned/non-air-conditioned office/manufacturing/site-based environment

Occasionally exposure to fumes/vapors/dust/gases/odors/mist/toxic chemicals/radiation/vibration/grease/oils/radiation/lasers/other etc.

Occasionally exposed to low/moderate/high noise levels including machinery/vehicles/forklifts/office equipment/office traffic etc.

Occasionally working around energized equipment with the risk of electrocution/scalding/burns/other etc.

Infrequently exposed to wet humid/outdoor weather/extreme cold (non-weather)/extreme heat (non-weather) conditions/other etc.

Infrequently working with machinery with moving parts/vehicles/forklifts/heavy machinery/sharp objects/other etc.
