Overview

Manages the compilation, analysis, and interpretation of complex healthcare, clinical and utilization data for the Data Science Team. Oversees creation of statistical analysis design plans that leverage relevant data used to support strategic business decisions. Leads and participates in all phases of analysis and presentation of findings. Leads the deployment of forecasting applications or predictive models through various mechanisms. Designs infrastructure and mechanisms to monitor and report model performance and alert those necessary when deployed models fail to perform as expected. Works under general supervision.

What You Will Do

  • Manages the day-to-day activities of the Data Science Team and its associated projects. Prioritizes and executes on high impact projects, triages analytical requests from the business, and ensures projects are delivered on time.
  • Translates business questions and concerns into specific analytical questions that can be answered with available data using statistical methods. Ensures business requests are responded to within a timely manner by coordinating work done by Data Science Team.
  • Advocates for the Data Science Team's access to data and proposes how the organization can leverage data to improve business and care delivery services
  • Oversees end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering from internal and external sources, specifying requirements, and processing, compiling, validating and modelling data; ensures deliverables are met and prepares and delivers presentations
  • Ensures data quality throughout all stages of acquisition and processing, including data sourcing/collection, ground truth generation, normalization, and transformation.
  • Interacts cross-functionally with a wide variety of teams, including end-users, to ensure that deployed algorithms are serving business needs.
  • Solves non-routine, inter-disciplinary analysis problems by applying advanced analytical methods as needed.
  • Ensures the Data Science Team communicates data and results with meaningful visualizations and tables.
  • Works with clinical operations, business owners, and/or IT to understand how VNS Health applications enter and commit data records into database systems.
  • Makes business recommendations (e.g. cost-benefit, forecasting, experiment analysis, inference) to stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information.
  • Develops and prepares analytic plans, including statistical design and methodology; executes analysis as specified; creates final reports; and presents findings to business management.
  • Ensures the accuracy of work done by the Data Science Team and the meaningful interpretation of the statistical inference. Identifies issues or errors in the BIA Department's work and assists in triaging resolutions.
  • Performs all duties inherent in a managerial role. Ensures effective staff training, interviews candidates for employment, evaluates staff performance, and recommends hiring, promotions, salary actions and terminations, as appropriate.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

Master's Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Epidemiology, Computer Science or other statistics related degree required

Work Experience:

Minimum of five years of experience in data analysis with a Master's Degree required
Minimum of three years of experience with a PhD or DrPH in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Epidemiology, Computer Science or other statistics related degree required
Demonstrated ability to apply statistical methods to data, draw conclusions from data, and make recommendations required
Knowledge of relational databases and programming experience in SQL required
Demonstrated experience with statistical software (e.g. R, Python, Julia, MATLAB, SAS, STATA) required
Demonstrated leadership and ability to teach others and to learn new techniques independently required
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required
Experience in team recruitment and management preferred
Experience with R-Shiny and business intelligence applications preferred

Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid payment policy and alternative payment models (e.g. BPCI, PDGM Value Based Payments, dual-risk models, Hospice Final Rule) preferred
Hands on experience building and deploying predictive models (API, database ETL, R/Python application integration to BI or ETL tools), specifically in a health care setting preferred
Application of quasi-experimental methods to health care data preferred


Pay Range

USD $122,300.00 - USD $205,000.00 /Yr.
