Our Shared Services team, which includes People Operations, Finance, IT and Security, and Contracts, provides internal services and support across Ad Hoc. Shared Services works to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the overall quality of services provided to the company's various teams and business units. By streamlining and standardizing support, Shared Services allows teams and business units to focus on their core business functions and achieve greater effectiveness internally and with the agencies they support.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a Director of Information Technology (IT) and Security, you will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of Ad Hoc's IT and Security department. A Director of IT and Security is a people manager, leader and mentor that effectively manages team operations in support of organizational success, and supports leadership in effectively directing IT and Security operations. You will serve as a subject matter expert that is able to successfully lead through direct reports and effectively communicate and execute against organizational objectives. In this role, a Director of IT and Security will actively partner with leadership peers to achieve business objectives, and is developing a strategic mindset to influence organizational growth. A Director of IT and Security must exhibit strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate among varying teams and departments to support the development and implementation of standard processes and procedures. Primary expectations of a Director of IT and Security include:




  • Serves as the organizational security-domain subject matter expert and bridge builder by creating strong cross-functional relationships throughout Ad Hoc, including being a trusted advisor and strategist to senior leadership in matters regarding security



  • Demonstrates the ability to organize people, technology, culture, and operations to drive solutions - including through the use of AI - to complex business problems that balance the business needs and the employee experience while enabling growth and scalability.



  • Provides leadership and strategic recommendations to Ad Hoc Leadership team, company officials, and subordinates on advanced systems projects, corporate security matters, and resolves critical problems in a timely, cost-effective manner



  • Leads the overall planning, formulation, and direction of Ad Hoc information technology and security policies, procedures, and instructions regarding IT systems, access, and corporate security matters to ensure an optimal security risk posture



  • Directs and manages the development and maintenance of Ad Hoc's corporate IT and information security policies and ensures that these policies are clearly documented and understood by the team



  • Manages the IT and Security budget (including all capacity and capability planning) by developing and defending budget estimates and related justifications, accountable for operating against approved budgets



  • Directs the company's core IT and Security infrastructure and oversees the acquisitions and negotiations of IT hardware, software, and/or services needed to meet company needs



  • Directs and manages the information security incident process at the company, acts as the incident commander for all corporate security incidents and owns driving these risks and priorities to their resolution with appropriate stakeholders



  • Oversees audits of the company's existing policies and standards; proactively identifies gaps, presents solutions, and actively manages the company's risk register while working across teams to reduce risk. Serves as the lead for the corporate IT risk function and ensures risks are properly identified and escalated



  • Leads the IT portion of compliance and improvement of Ad Hoc's ISO & CMMI certifications implementation and ensures Ad Hoc's continued certification, driven by both best-practices and the sustainability growth prospects required by contracts and contract vehicles



  • Supports the Contracts department with developing and negotiating security in contracts and agreements with partners, customers, and other stakeholders



  • Oversees IT-risk mitigation activities and ensures Ad Hoc compliance with the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)



  • Oversees the internal helpdesk for all Ad Hoc employee IT related issues




Basic Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's and 10+ years of experience




    • Relevant years of experience may be substituted for education





  • Security Certification(s) may be substituted for experience/education



  • Extensive experience with IT projects, Corporate Security, Risk Management, Incident Response, and people management



  • Extensive experience with budget ownership (recommendations, management, trade-offs, roadmap)

In support of various state and city equal pay transparency laws, Ad Hoc job descriptions feature the starting range we reasonably expect to pay to candidates who would join our team with little to no need for training on the responsibilities we've outlined above. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility. The range of starting pay for this role is $160,000-$180,000.
