CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join our Survey Geospatial Team in Columbia, SC, where you'll take the lead on field operations that support transportation projects across our communities. This is an exciting opportunity for a survey leader who brings strong technical expertise, excels in dynamic environments, and values hands on teamwork.



What You'll Do:

    Direct and lead field crew members through daily survey assignments, ensuring safe, efficient, and wellcoordinated field operations in alignment with safety protocols and quality assurance standards
  • Perform record research, construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, transportation, and utility surveys utilizing total stations, data collectors, and GPS
  • Review legal documents, plans, and project materials to accurately plan and execute surveying projects and task goal establishment
  • Create and verify field sketches and field computations related to traversing, map interpretation, and layout


What You Bring:

  • High school diploma required; A.A.S. and/or B.S degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience required
  • Drone data collection or laser scanning experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of surveying practices, field procedures, and industry standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred; knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred
  • Trimble application knowledge preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills with the ability to represent the firm professionally with clients and the broader public
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment over uneven terrain and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license required
  • NSPS CST Level II certification preferred; LSIT preferred

Salary Range:

$35.00 - $40.00

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
