Job Overview
Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring of appropriate investment programs for the investment of cash assets in discretionary agency and fiduciary accounts. Provide expert advice and counsel regarding investment questions from clients, prospects and teammates. Be well versed in the securities business and able to relate specific types of investment instruments to specific situations.
Principal Accountabilities
Represent the Bank to both internal and external customers in a courteous, professional manner in face-to-face, written and telephone communications. Accountable for adherence to compliance standards including investment policy statement, client investment profiles, quality of documentation, and timeliness and accuracy in trading of equity securities (individual and funds), fixed income securities (Corporate Bonds, Treasuries, CD's, Preferred Stock, funds, etc.) and efficiency improvements made to current trading process. Actively protect confidentiality of customer and account information. Demonstrate Horizon Bank's commitment to the communities we serve through involvement in local organizations and events.
Duties
- Identify, implement and monitor investment portfolio strategies including selection of mutual fund securities, fixed income securities, individual equity, and general portfolio allocation strategies.
- Execute trades for equity and fixed income vehicles.
- Provide on-going monitoring and oversight of assets on approved lists.
- Support Relationship Managers with investment related issues and provide feedback and new ideas regarding portfolio securities and strategy. Train and educate staff, customers, and prospects on investment related concepts and options.
- Prepare information to be included on the agenda for Trust Investment Committee (TIC) meetings, including fixed income topics.
- Conduct investment research, perform analysis and present recommendations to TIC.
- Report suspicious transactions or unusual occurrences to supervisor.
- Conduct and document periodic asset risk reviews and run reports as needed.
- Conduct research for and assist with writing draft Viewpointe quarterly newsletter.
- Present to Horizon Bank's Board of Directors in the absence of the Investment Manager.
- Prepare Board Wealth Management Committee packet reports in the absence of the Investment Manager.
- Identify potential trade errors to help prevent losses.
- Perform all work in compliance with established regulations, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and instructions.
- Maintain customer confidence and protect bank operations by keeping information private and confidential.
- Participate in ongoing skill, compliance, risk management and security training as required for the position and apply knowledge in daily tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Personnel Management
Qualifications & Skills
- College degree in business, finance or related field of study. Professional designation such as CFA, CPA, CFP preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience.
- Knowledge of investment concepts and financial market activities.
- Knowledge of tax implications of investment decisions.
- Exceptional organization, time management and follow-up skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, bank employees and outside service providers.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and a wide range of procedures requiring sound judgement.
- Ability to perform complex mathematical computations using various business machines and/or computers.
- Must have proficient typing and computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.
