General Function
The Senior Director of Field Eyecare drives execution of doctor-related strategies for Target Optical, overseeing the full employee life cycle for Doctors-from onboarding to engagement initiatives that enhance satisfaction and retention. This leader manages the Eyecare team to ensure doctors receive support to deliver exceptional patient care while optimizing coverage and eye exam growth. The role serves as the primary liaison with the Eyecare Center of Excellence (COE), ensuring alignment between brand priorities and COE strategies.

Major Duties & Responsibilities



  • Collaborate with optometrists, field leaders, marketing, internal teams, academic institutions, and attend industry events to expand patient access and brand loyalty
  • Lead the Optometric Advisory Council (OAC) to gain insights and execute Eyecare strategies
  • Oversee OD recruitment and management across the U.S., ensuring coverage and building a talent pipeline
  • Manage sublease administration including renewals, non-renewals, and annual business planning with COE Operations
  • Develop strategies for direct management of employee ODs, providing leadership, coaching, and performance management
  • Drive performance in underperforming regions by identifying gaps and implementing targeted solutions.
  • Ensure operational excellence by supporting OD medical/technical conversations, verifying equipment, and delivering training
  • Strategically increase patient access and minimize dark/dim stores
  • Partner with COE and Corporate Training to develop new doctor and field training programs/tools.
  • Influence communication strategies to enhance engagement with the doctor community
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure compliance
  • Lead and coach the Eyecare team to optimize patient access and business results through expertise in optometry, TAB, and digital tools
  • Build strong relationships with internal departments to address challenges and improve OD satisfaction
  • Maintain EyeMed, Medicare, and managed care credentialing materials; encourage sublease doctor participation in MVC plans


Basic Qualifications



  • BA/BS in business, healthcare, or related field.
  • 12+ years of multi-unit responsibility for physician/optometric practice management or similar experience.
  • Strong influencing, negotiating, team-building, and coaching skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • 50%-75% travel required


Preferred Qualifications



  • Doctor of Optometry or master's in healthcare-related field
  • Licensed to practice optometry in applicable states

Pay Range:191,312.85-264,247.00
