The Role

At QuidelOrtho, we're advancing the power of diagnostics for a healthier future for all. Join our mission as our next Senior Master Production Scheduler. This position is responsible for developing, maintaining and optimizing the master production schedule (MPS) to balance customer demand, capacity, inventory targets, and business objectives. This role serves as a key link between sales, operations, purchasing and manufacturing, ensuring executable plans that support on-time delivery, cost control, and service-level performance. The Senior Scheduler provides leadership, advance analysis, and continuous improvement to planning process.

This position will be onsite in San Diego, CA.

The Responsibilities
  • Develops manage and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across multiple products, lines and/or facilities

  • Translate demand forecast, customer order and sales plans into feasible production schedules

  • Ensure alignment between the MPS, capacity plans, material availability, and labor constraints

  • Evaluate and resolve demand-supply imbalances using scenario analysis and trade-off recommendations

  • Monitor schedule adherence, on-time delivery, inventory levels and capacity utilization

  • Identify risk to execution and proactively implement mitigation plan

  • Support resolution of production issues, shortages, and schedule conflicts

  • Maintain accurate planning parameters in ERP/MRP systems

  • Leverage advanced planning tools and analytics to optimize schedules

  • Ensure data integrity related to lead times and capacities

  • Prepare the supply and capacity analysis for the S&OP meetings, providing schedule feasibility and risk assessments

  • Communicate schedule changes, constraints, and priorities to stakeholders

  • Anticipates potential expiration scrap and collaborates with commercial team to find a suitable use.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy and responsiveness

  • Develop and document standard work, planning policies, and best practices

  • Mentor and guide junior schedulers or planners

  • Support new product introductions (NPI) and lifecycle changes

  • Performs other duties and projects assigned

The Individual

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business or related field

  • 7+ years of experience in production planning or master scheduling in a manufacturing environment

  • Advance knowledge of MRP, MPS and capacity planning concepts

  • Strong experience with ERP systems (SAP) and advance planning tools

  • Proven ability to manage complex schedules and competing priorities

  • This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • APICs/ASCM Certification

  • Experience with S&OP processes

  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience

  • Multi-site or global supply chain experience

Internal Partners:

Commercial Operations, Global Distribution, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Production Planning, Purchasing, Demand Planning and Supply Planning

The Work Environment

The work environmental characteristics are representative of both an office and laboratory environment and may include handling of potentially hazardous chemicals. Some time spent in production areas and warehouses. Flexible work hours to meet product demand deadlines.

The Physical Demands

Position requires ability to lift up to 20 lbs. on occasion. Up to 50% of time in meetings; 70% of time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/ on phone, doing analytical work. Some walking in manufacturing areas is required. Position may require use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $118,000 to $153,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
