Job Summary

Supports the academic transition of transfer students by managing the course evaluation process for those courses that meet University Core Curriculum requirements. Advises transfer students on lower-division and university requirements. Maintains knowledge of transfer policies and best practices. Supervises, trains, and evaluates the Transfer and Transition Services (TTS) equivalency team. Establishes and maintains relationships with college partner key staff. Presents at transfer related events.

  • Collaborates with Assistant Vice President and Director of Transfer and Transition Services Office within Enrollment Management Services Unit in planning, developing, and disseminating the strategic vision and mission for the Transfer & Transition Services (TTS) Office.
  • Monitors and improves all aspects of the course evaluation process for Transfer & Transition Services, including supervising, evaluating, and setting work priorities for a team of transfer evaluators.
  • Manages and provides oversight of our proactive course evaluation processes (e.g. matriculation queries, Transfer Advising/Registration days, and prospective student-athletes.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises transfer evaluators and assists the Director of Transfer & Transition Services in training new front line and transfer credit processing staff.
  • Manages and provides oversight of TTS role in new student orientation, new advisor training, One Stop training, on-going training for academic units in the area of transfer credit for staff and faculty (equivalencies, accelerated credits, etc).
  • Coordinates representation at college/transfer fairs and other internal and external outreach initiatives.
  • Assists TTS leadership team with special student cases and advisor requests (e.g. Pre-Gordon, Global Learning, Military, Student Athletes and Readmits).
  • Collaborates with TTS and Enrollment Management and Services leadership in planning, developing, and disseminating the unit's strategic vision.
  • Provides pre-transfer admission consultation and transfer course credit evaluations to special populations, referring cases as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of transfer policies at both the state and university level. Responds to inquiries from faculty and professional advisors concerning transfer policies, process and procedures.
  • Develops a continuous improvement plan for the awarding of post-secondary credit (transfer and test credit).
  • Meets with transfer students and assists them in the initial phases of the course equivalency process, including providing referrals to appropriate campus resources, as needed. Advises transfer students concerning lower- division and university requirements (e.g., FLENT/FLEX, Summer Enrollment, Civics Requirement, Global Learning). Provides guidance to students on the process for selecting a major and the resources available to assist them in pursuing an academic plan.
  • Researches internal student case records/archives as needed, reviews articulated transfer rules and requests additional documentation form students and/or sending institutions.
  • Attends meetings and serves on task forces, working groups, and committees, as assigned.
  • Trains key FIU staff (admission recruiters, advisors, OneStop staff) on new TTS processes and procedures related to post-secondary credit as well as acceleration options.
  • Maintains confidential records, ensuring that ethical and legal guidelines (FERPA) are followed.
  • Leads or co-leads special projects.
  • Contributes to transfer student enrollment goals by supporting recruitment and/or onboarding initiatives such as transfer fairs, FIU Showcase, and Admitted Student Day.
  • Stays current on transfer policies, procedures, and best practices through professional development and independent study.
  • Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and four (4) years of experience.


Desired Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in an educational setting.
  • Bilingual (e.g. Spanish & English).
  • Experience working with transfer students, transfer credit evaluation process and academic advising.
