GENERAL FUNCTION: The Field Engineer A performs engineering activities in support of production, testing, and trials. This role provides direct engineering support on the deck plate and acts as a liaison between production and functional engineering teams. The position reports to the Field Engineering Manager.

    * Make engineering decisions on the deckplate in coordination with the functional engineering group.

    * Perform field engineering activities to support the production process.

    * Shipcheck areas on the vessel, able to get in tight areas, crawl, climb or enter manholes

    * Provide technical details and support to craft personnel during production.

    * Generate field sketches and prepare material lists by way of YEC (Yard Engineering Change); FECN (Field Engineering Change Notice) for review by Field Engineer Manager.

    * Determine material requirements related to engineering changes, outfitting activities, and scope impacts.

    * Able to provide basic calculations in disciplined area to support resolution

    * Collaborate with craft personnel to assess and resolve outfitting/fitting issues.

    * Identify and resolve production-related engineering problems to support project timelines and quality standards.

    * Able to perform and produce resolution with minimal supervision

    * Strong knowledge of maritime regulations and certifications with SUPSHIP, Coast Guard and ABS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • * Bachelor's degree in a marine engineering discipline from an accredited institution.

    * In-depth knowledge of shipyard production processes as they relate to engineering functions.

    * Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and industry best practices.

    * Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a dynamic production environment.

    * Ability to establish priorities, meet goals, and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.

    * Must know Shipconstructor/AutoCAD

    * NAVIS

    * SharePoint

    * Microsoft Platform; EXCEl, MS Word, PowerPoint

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with three or more years' experience in engineering related to the marine industry with a focus on deckplate resolution. One or more years' drafting experience related to production or equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
