Role Summary

The Associate Chemist carries out technical assignments focused on the development and improvement of new and existing OTC products under the direction of their supervisor. The individual will be performing various laboratory activities, analyzing data, and providing suggestions for next steps. They will support all stages of the product development process including but not limited to prototype development, performance testing, consumer testing, scale-up and specification development. The individual collaborates and works in a cross-functional team environment. This individual may also support other brands under supervision from other senior group members. The Associate Chemist can work independently in a team oriented environment while handling multiple projects, and has good communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Describe the 5-7 major accountabilities)

  • Prepare and maintain product and raw material specifications and basic experimental procedures for existing and new products.
  • Conduct bench-top formulation and development as needed
  • Conduct formula evaluation and stability testing.
  • Coordinate and support testing by internal service groups and/or external testing labs.
  • Conduct periodic market surveillance on competitive products and stay abreast on category trends.
  • Collect and help analyze consumer feedback, understand consumer needs and the gaps between needs and existing products, prepare summary report and initiate/conduct follow-through tasks.
  • Prepare and assemble bundle books, Project Summary Sheets, SDS submissions, and other relevant documentation to support the launch of new products

Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have a B.S. degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related disciplines, with 0-2 years of laboratory experience preferably in personal care.

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to work independently on specified tasks under direction of supervisor.
  • Ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects with manager supervision.
  • Demonstrated organizational, work planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment involving marketing, processing, packaging, analytical, manufacturing, and regulatory
  • Good oral and written skills
  • The U.S base salary range for this full-time position is $67,300- $95,700. This position is also eligible for [bonus, long-term incentives, etc.]

  • The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay parity. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
