| Position Description: |
The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery is currently recruiting for a faculty position as an Assistant Professor on the tenure track. This role will include evaluating neurosurgery patients subspecialized in skull base and tumor diagnosis within the outpatient ambulatory setting, performing operative procedures, managing patients who are admitted to both the emergency room and in-patient services, and conducting neurophysiology research on neurosurgery patients. Research will focus on areas related to brain tumor biology, with a specific emphasis on meningiomas and schwannomas. Clinical responsibilities will be tailored to optimize this role's ability to achieve maximal success as a clinical/academic skull base neurosurgeon, including referrals of patients with brain tumors. The UI Department of Neurosurgery is made up of more than 16 full-time faculty members who provide national and international leadership across a range of neurological surgery specialties including but not limited to, brain tumor neurosurgery, endovascular neurosurgery, functional neurosurgery, pediatric neurosurgery, spinal surgery, and neurotrauma neurosurgery. | Education Requirement: |
- MD or equivalent and eligible for an unrestricted Iowa medical license
|
| Required Qualifications: |
- Completed training in all phases of Neurosurgery
- Completed and/or currently enrolled in a skull base fellowship
- Must be board certified by a governing body
- Demonstrated experience in neurophysiology research
|
| Desirable Qualifications: |
- Published research in a related neurosurgical area
|
