Job Summary

This role reports to the VP, Commercial Operations and is responsible for executing the company's strategy of providing solutions for growth across our portfolio of products through existing and new channels of distribution. The Sr. Director of Category Management works cross functionally with Product, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain/Operations, Business Insights and Marketing teams to execute product priorities and drive mutual growth for Dorman and our customers. The Sr. Director of Category Management leads a team of Category Directors and Managers who are the go-to-market experts for their assigned categories and work to surface and execute the largest organizational product opportunities through understanding of the product category value proposition and market competition. This role will drive leadership, focus and excellence in execution across our commercial priorities and continue to shape and refine our commercial strategy based on changing market conditions and customer needs.


Additionally, this role is a highly visible role that will assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the VP, Commercial Operations for additional career development and acceleration.

Primary Duties

  • Develop and deliver structured storytelling and clear messaging in presentations to influence stakeholders, align teams, and support business objectives.
  • Leads the development of go-to-market strategies and tactics across Dorman's product portfolio and provides ongoing leadership and influence across multiple stakeholders and key functions
  • Aligns internal Strategic Business Unit (SBU) strategies with channel/customer strategies and plans
  • Leads a team of Category Managers responsible for engaging customers and executing comprehensive line reviews to ensure appropriate levels of product distribution/placement are achieved and supported with insights and pull-through tactics
  • Creates long-term vision and roadmap for success needed to grow and defend Dorman's share across several product categories within the Strategic Business Unit (SBU).
  • Understands assigned categories commercialization needs, creates applicable tools to gain or defend market share and leads the communication of these tools to Sales, Product, Business Insights, Marketing and Demand Planning teams.
  • Works directly closely Product Management and Strategic Pricing to ensure revenue and profits are maximized for Dorman and Customers through effective product positioning in the market.
  • Other duties as assigned by VP of Category Management

Qualifications

  • Have a solid understanding of National Retailers and go-to-market sales execution strategies
  • Ability to interpret needs of Sales to provide creative solutions for business that deliver company objectives
  • Critical/ analytical/ strategic thinking skills and ability to organize own work and set priorities
  • Ability to engage, lead and inspire others
  • Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 20 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Marketing required; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of related experience in Sales, Category Management, and/or Product Management/Development.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $181,300 to $274,300. This role is also eligible for a bonus. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
