Overview

The Senior Director, Consumer Business Development role is a senior leadership position responsible for driving strategic growth initiatives and managing the most complex, high-impact transactions across the organization. This position requires deep domain expertise, executive maturity, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while influencing at the divisional level.



Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Define and execute business development strategies for high-priority areas within the Consumer / MAI business but with the ability to flex into areas such as Azure Core, m365, Edge and more.
    • Lead negotiations for the largest and most complex deals, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
    • Drive cross-functional collaboration across engineering, finance, legal, and product teams to deliver business outcomes.
  • Innovation & Growth:
    • Identify and develop new business models, ecosystems, and partnerships to accelerate growth.
    • Pioneer initiatives that expand market presence and create long-term value.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage a team of 4+ business development professionals, providing mentorship and career development.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.


Qualifications

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field AND 12+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years people management experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field AND 14+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
    • OR Master's/Advanced Degree in Business, Sciences, or related field AND 12+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years experience in the technology industry or in a related industry OR in a technical role (e.g., IT, Engineering, cloud platforms, digital transformation, capabilities, solutions).

Business Development M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $155,800 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,400 - $303,600 per year.
