Systems Engineer - Space Systems Design

Stellar Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer to support a highly dynamic and evolving program with one of our U.S. Government customers. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-year initiative that drives systems engineering and integration across a diverse range of projects, directly supporting mission-critical operations that impact national security.

In this role, you will serve as a key systems engineering contributor supporting the development, deployment, operations, and sustainment of space-related hardware and software capabilities. You will be expected to communicate clearly in a fast-moving environment, collaborate effectively across technical teams, and manage early-phase development activities through fielding and operational use.

Key responsibilities include:

Act as the primary point of contact for system deployments, operations, and maintenance activities.

• Collaborate with system developers to enhance, troubleshoot, and maintain systems.

• Work closely with system operators to ensure mission continuity and optimal performance.

• Manage system data outputs, ensuring proper formatting, quality, and delivery to stakeholders.

• Support the customer in evaluating developer technical performance, issues, and proposed improvements.

• Extensive experience in systems engineering, specifically spacecraft system design.

• Proven ability to work independently and effectively represent the customer with developers and external organizations.

• Comprehensive understanding of the full system development lifecycle.

• Subject matter expertise in Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) or complex electro-optical and radar systems.

• Education and experience (one of the following):

  • Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of experience

  • Master's degree with 12+ years of experience

  • PhD with 10+ years of experience

• U.S. Citizen required.

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required.

• LocationThis position is part-time and on site in the vicinity of Chantilly, VA.

• This requisition is intended for a part-time employee expected to work less than 1,000 hours in a year, based on program needs and assignment planning.

Because this is a part-time position expected to be less than 1,000 hours per year, compensation will be applied on an hourly basis with total annual earnings dependent on actual hours worked. The typical hourly pay range for this position is approximately USD $72.00 to $101.00 per hour. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary performance bonus and benefits in accordance with company policy.

Deliverables will be in the format of reports, briefings, spreadsheets, or other documents as directed by the Government, using government approved and/or mandated systems/software and processes governed by guidance, instructions, policy, or direction. The nature of this work will, at times, require quick responses to stringent deadlines and always in a high-quality, professional manner.
