Overview

Coordinate and Manage the Metallurgical Laboratory activities, analyze materials according to Quality, Operational and Engineering Requirements, maintain communication to QCM, Operations and Quality Team about the results obtained of the productive and non-productive material analysis

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:



  1. Supervision of the Metallurgical Laboratory
  2. Elaborate Metallurgical analysis of productive and non-productive material according FCA Standards and Procedures.
  3. Elaborate analysis reports of 948TE Transmission, EDM, Gen4 8 speed and eMotor components.
  4. Issue inspection reports according to MS, PS, PF or provided by the requestors
  5. Provide Metallurgical and Metallographic analysis services to the Machining lines and/or Assembly lines and Corporate Engineering.
  6. Evaluation of casting/forging/blank suppliers.
  7. Optimally maintain the inspection and measurement equipment (Borescope, Optical microscope, stereoscope, Durometer, Metallographic cutting machine, Muffle oven, Pall cabinets / ultrasonic washer for cleanliness audit, Metallographic polisher, Metallographic assemblers for thermo fragruant resins.
  8. Responsible for calibration, operation and maintenance of the Laboratory Equipment
  9. Cleanliness audit of washer machines
  10. Conduct cleanliness audit of the components from machining lines (Weight and Size) of the particles in order to meet Engineering requirements
  11. Implementation and maintenance of procedures, instructions, formats and records according to CQI-9 along with MQAS Requirements.
  12. Control processing parameters and monitor results of quality requirements for heat treatment of powertrain components, including (not limited to) material hardnesses, case depth, white layer thickness, microstructure, and resulting geometrical changes.
  13. The Metallurgist provides support to heat treat production processes: vacuum carburizing, nitriding, induction, weld, shot peening, welded component analysis, and weld cut analysis of the eMotor stator.
  14. Supervision and Manage Chemical management (Supplier that applies) program, physicochemical analysis of coolant systems, maintaining parameters within specifications.
  15. Components control of machining lines, so as the cleanliness program and detergent change in coordination with Quaker the chemical supplier.
  16. Promote continuous improvement on machining and assembly lines
  17. Provide and practice the identification and elimination of losses and waste on the different areas in the plant.
  18. Supervision and management of the union personnel in the Laboratory

Basic Qualifications:



  1. Education level: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university
  2. Major(s): Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering
  3. Other four-year engineering or technology degrees in combination with relevant experience will be considered
  4. Technical Experience: 2 years minimum - Metallographic Analysis, Coolant Systems for Machining Lines, Chemical Analysis



Preferred Qualifications:



  1. Education Level: Master's Degree of higher
  2. Major(s): Science or Business
  3. Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM)
  4. Experience in the design, testing, manufacture or assembly of powertrains and its related components
  5. Process Sign-Off
  6. Dimensional Layout / GD&T
  7. Experience supervising team members in a UAW environment
  8. Greenbelt / Blackbelt certification
  9. Language: Bilingual Verbal and written capability for English and Spanish
  10. Foundry process, Heat Treatment
