Compensation:

* Base Pay Range: $34.60 - $51.02 per hour, based on experience

* Special Pay: Additional $3.00 per hour premium pay

* Shift Differentials: Additional $2.75 per hour for evening shift, additional $4.00 per hour for night shift, and additional $3.00 per hour for weekend shift ($8.00 per hour weekend program shift if available)

ABOUT THE JOB

Missouri Psychiatric Center (MUPC) is seeking compassionate and dedicated nurses to provide exceptional care for children, adolescents, and adults receiving inpatient psychiatric treatment. In this role, you will assess patients' physical, emotional, and behavioral health needs while fostering a safe and therapeutic environment. You will collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Responsibilities include medication administration, patient monitoring, crisis intervention, and patient and family education. Strong therapeutic communication and critical-thinking skills are essential to supporting patients through stabilization and recovery. MUPC offers specialized training in non-violent crisis intervention, behavioral therapy techniques, and psychiatric nursing best practices. ABOUT MISSOURI PSYCHIATRIC CENTER (MUPC)

The Missouri Psychiatric Center offers short-term, intensive inpatient treatment services for adults, adolescents and children at our facility adjacent to University Hospital in Columbia, MO. The center's 61 inpatient beds are divided among three units. A 17-bed unit serves pre-adolescents, ages 5-12, and adolescents, ages 13-17, two units with a total of 44 beds serve adults. The MU Psychiatric Center also offers an emergency room assessment unit for both adult and pediatric patients to help with crisis stabilization, intake and discharge planning for patients. We provide special training in non-violent crisis intervention (Crisis Prevention Institute) and additional special training in behavioral therapy, therapeutic communication, group skills, and more!

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

* Assesses the patient's condition and nursing needs, sets goals, and prescribes appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative patient needs, including discharge planning.

* Assesses, intervenes, and reassesses the patient's self-report and symptoms of pain promptly. Utilizes an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment (0-10 numerical scale, FACES, or the FLACC.)

* Demonstrates an understanding of medications regarding action and side effects. Reports pertinent information to the appropriate individual. Educates patients and significant others about their medications.

* Demonstrates the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.

* Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing unit.

* Participates in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups. Understands the attendance and punctuality guidelines, and adherence to the dress code.

* Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person and records those observations accurately and concisely.

* Provides quality patient care and works with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.

* May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

* One (1) year of RN experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
