Job Summary:
As the Distribution Center Manager, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for managing centralized inventory operations that support Midco's broader distribution network. In this strategic role, you'll oversee the accuracy, efficiency, and consistency of inventory control processes across multiple locations, ensuring alignment with company-wide standards and service goals. You will drive operational excellence through process improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven decision-making, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, and team development. Responsibilities: * Lead and oversee all aspects of receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations, ensuring alignment with company policies, service standards, and performance goals * Maintain warehouse safety, cleanliness, and functionality by managing layout design, equipment inspections, and timely repairs or replacements * Develop, implement, and enforce standardized operational procedures to ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations across all supported locations * Monitor and control inventory levels through regular audits, issue resolution, and system accuracy to support financial and operational goals * Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service quality using Lean or other continuous improvement methodologies * Collaborate with leadership to define and achieve KPIs related to productivity, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction * Build and maintain strong vendor and partner relationships to support material flow, equipment needs, and service delivery * Assess staffing needs, identify talent gaps, and support hiring, training, and development to build a high-performing, engaged team * Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement through coaching, feedback, and performance management * Partner with other warehouse and distribution leaders to standardize best practices and share operational insights across the organization. * Operate and drive a company vehicle in compliance with all Midco policies and procedures, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to traffic laws. Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle to present a professional image. * Provide constructive and timely feedback for team members to foster engagement through coaching, training and stretch opportunities to increase team performance. * Perform quarterly reviews and effectively manage disciplinary and/or performance issues. * Model Midco's mission, vision, values, ethos, and Leadership Success Drivers, and inspire others to do the same. * Ensure customer privacy by adhering to Midco's privacy guidelines while actively following Midco policies and procedures. * Maintain regular attendance to be available for your team and as required by your position. * Be available to provide assistance to team members outside of normal business hours as necessary. * Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: * High School diploma or equivalent (GED). * 7 years of experience in warehouse or inventory operations, with a proven track record of career growth and increased responsibility. * 5 years of leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive results and implement process improvements. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels. * Proficient in general computer operations, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word) and commonly used business communication tools. * Experience with MRP (Material Requirements Planning), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), and WMS (Warehouse Management Systems). * Have the ability to obtain certification to operate material handling equipment, such as forklift and/or skid steer. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Distribution, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. * Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement methodologies. * Certifications such as CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management), or CLTD (Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution) Work Environment: * Requires both indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions. * Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to risks such as electrical shock, vibration, paint, and various cleaning chemicals. * Noise level ranges from moderate to loud. * May be required to work more than 40 hours per week, including holidays, evenings, and weekends as business demands. * May need to travel to additional sites to assist other teams based on company needs. Physical Demands: * Required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. * Required to lift and/or carry loads up to 50 lbs. For loads heavier than 50 lbs., two or more people are required to lift. * Required to stand or walk for the majority of the scheduled shift. Mental Demands: * Spot and correct errors to ensure accurate inventory records and reporting. * Manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining structure and efficiency. * Identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions. * Clearly convey information and expectations to team members and stakeholders. * Foster collaboration, provide guidance, and support team development. * Adjust to changing priorities and lead the team through dynamic situations. * Make timely, informed decisions and know when to escalate issues. * Maintain concentration and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time. | |
