Financial Reporting Manager - Reinsurance (Hybrid | Charlotte, NC)

A well-established organization within the insurance / financial services space is hiring a Financial Reporting Manager - Reinsurance to support its Reinsurance Financial Reporting function. This is an individual contributor role (no direct people management) and will partner closely with stakeholders across finance, actuarial, tax, and operations.

This position is hybrid and based in Charlotte, NC, working with team members located across the U.S.

Role Overview

This role is ideal for a reporting-focused professional with deep knowledge of insurance / reinsurance accounting who can operate independently, solve complex issues, and translate technical accounting topics into clear guidance for business partners. You'll play a key part in reporting deliverables, controls, technical analysis, and reporting readiness for new and evolving reinsurance transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and support reinsurance financial reporting deliverables across close cycles, including quarterly and annual reporting needs

  • Lead planning and execution around reporting outputs, timelines, and control considerations tied to reinsurance activity

  • Provide leadership-ready financial analysis, including trend review, insights, and business driver commentary

  • Act as a technical advisor on reinsurance reporting matters, bringing recommendations aligned with guidance and industry practice

  • Partner cross-functionally (actuarial, finance, tax, technology, accounting) to ensure alignment on reinsurance agreements, accounting treatment, and reporting implications

  • Evaluate new reinsurance transactions and business events, determining accounting entry and reporting requirements

  • Build strong working relationships and influence stakeholders through clear communication and strong technical credibility

  • Support controllership activities as needed, including journal entries, reconciliations, settlements, and documentation

  • Assist with audit/exam requests by providing support, explanations, and walkthroughs of financial impact and process

  • Participate in both near-term and transformative finance initiatives focused on scale, process improvement, or reporting modernization

  • Share knowledge across the team and contribute to improving tools, documentation, and internal expertise

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience across accounting and/or financial reporting, ideally within insurance/reinsurance

  • Strong ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment

  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to explain technical accounting to non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability; comfortable navigating ambiguous situations

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

Preferred Experience
  • Reinsurance subject matter expertise and strong technical accounting foundation

  • CPA (or actively working toward licensure)

  • Experience with financial systems / analytics tools such as Oracle, Essbase, Alteryx, Snowflake (or similar)

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
