Position Summary
This position, funded by the U.S. State Department, will manage a project on human trafficking in Malawi and Zambia, Southern Africa. This position will be funded through 2028 pending funding continuation. The goal of the project is to reduce internal and cross-border labor trafficking in 6 districts in Malawi and Zambia through a financial capability intervention that uses a randomized controlled trial ( RCT).
The CenHTRO Senior Program Manager will coordinate all operational aspects of the project for Malawi and Zambia, including research logistics and dissemination, implementing programs, policy work, stakeholder relationships, and communication between the UGA team and its partners. The Senior Program Manager manages the day-to-day operation of the project for Malawi and Zambia and provides support to the Director and project staff in meeting reporting deadlines and regulatory requirements. The Senior Program Manager reports to the CenHTRO Director.
The mission of CenHTRO is to conduct research, develop programming, and influence policies that drastically and measurably reduce human trafficking and other forms of exploitation. CenHTRO is housed in the School of Social Work.

Program Management

  • Supports the CenHTRO Director in determining program priorities and strategic direction.
  • Manages program team to ensure federal performance measures are met, as well as ensuring the strategic, programmatic, and technical integrity of the program.
  • Leads regularly scheduled project team and partner meetings.
  • Works in close collaboration with stakeholders, partners, and sponsors to enhance buy-in to the program.
  • Works closely with Business Manager to manage program subawards and contracts.
  • Leads policy strategy development on program teams.
  • Supports research teams in the development of research protocols, training materials, and data collection.
  • Leads development and execution of key program events.

Duties/Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Supports monitoring and evaluation activities led by MEL Coordinator.
  • Manages process of completing and uploading quarterly and final reporting paperwork, working with Business Manager, MEL Coordinator, and research team.
  • Responds to both internal and external ad hoc requests for data or program information.
  • Travels 2-3x/year for purposes of program monitoring and leads planning of these site visits.
