The
UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Support Services serves the needs of the
UNC Adams School of Dentistry and guides its operations in meeting the requirements and commitments in teaching, patient care, research and administrative programs.
The Adams School of Dentistry is one of six health science schools (Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Public Health) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is the first dental school in the state of North Carolina. The
ASOD consists of seven (7) Academic Departments: Biomedical Sciences, Craniofacial and Surgical Care (Craniofacial Center, Geriatrics/Special Care, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Oral Medicine), Restorative Sciences (General Dentistry, Operative & Biomaterials and Prosthodontics), Pediatric Dentistry and Dental Public Health, Orthodontics, Diagnostic Sciences (Oral Microbiology, Orofacial Pain/Sleep, Pathology and Radiology) and Periodontology, Endodontics and Dental Hygiene (one department). It is an exciting time to join the Adams School of Dentistry as we have finalized a new strategic plan and are embarking on team initiatives!

| Position Summary |
This position will liaison with University project managers, job supervisors, and various trades in coordinating non-capital building renovation projects. Serves as the School's quality assurance representative in the sign-off of all non-capital projects. Reviews cost estimates, monitor budgets, and design documents. Submits change orders directly to project manager. Coordinates voice and data network wiring installation efforts with
ASOD IT and Departments. Provides immediate supervisor routine status reports on projects. Serves as an
ASOD point of contact for building systems controls; such as, location of electrical distribution panels, transformers, back-up generators, main water, air, and vacuum control valves, air compressors, and dental/medical vacuum systems, medical gas main and zone valves. Maintains building blueprint files and be knowledgeable in reading/interpreting blueprints. Coordinates utility outages. Performs carpentry, and various minor work related tasks. Installs signs, shelving, cabinet locks. Replaces door lock cylinders, assembles miscellaneous furniture, and various general items, etc. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. |
| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
This is considered a 'position of trust' maintaining all building keys and security of critical functions. Must possess basic computer skills - Microsoft Office: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc. |

Previous facilities management experience. |

| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Must be capable of lifting 35lbs without assistance. Must be capable of distinguishing the full range of colors. |
