Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Federal Driver Patrol in Butner, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal at a government location supporting correctional operations. As an armed patrol officer, you will conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with staff and visitors. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver's license, allowing you to respond across assigned areas, document observations, and deliver exceptional customer service through teamwork, integrity, and a people-first culture.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with on-site government staff and/or public emergency services as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter fencing, with working environments and conditions varying by post assignment.
  • Control access at gates, sally ports, and other controlled entry points by verifying identification, logging visitors, and directing individuals according to post orders.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, radios, and other security-related systems, reporting unusual activity and/or system issues per site procedures.
  • Maintain a visible presence to help discourage prohibited behavior and support orderly operations during daily activities, movements, and shift change periods.
  • Perform security-related screenings and inspections of authorized vehicles, packages, and deliveries when assigned, documenting findings per procedure.
  • Complete detailed reports of daily activity, incidents, and policy violations, including maintaining chain of information for evidence and/or recovered property as directed.
  • Operate assigned equipment and carry authorized firearms consistent with Allied Universal training, licensing requirements, and site-specific use-of-force guidelines.
  • Assist with emergency and contingency operations such as lockdowns, perimeter alerts, evacuations, medical responses, and/or weather-related events, following established protocols.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • An armed guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
