Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, the Rehab Services Manager provides leadership and oversight for designated clinical areas within Rehab Services. This role involves applying critical thinking and evidence-based practices to ensure high-quality service delivery and staff performance. Key responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating clinical services, implementing quality and process improvement initiatives, managing budgets in coordination with Director, and developing performance standards.
The Rehab Services Manager is accountable for optimizing patient access, service quality, and safety. They serve as a key liaison for Rehab Services, actively participating in agency work teams, committees, and operational planning efforts. The role requires close collaboration with provider teams, community partners, nursing, administrative leadership and other stakeholders. The Rehab Services Manager may be responsible for multiple clinical locations and require travel between sites.
Essential Functions:
- Operational
* Ensure oversight of operations by monitoring safety, workflow efficiency, resource use, and quality of services delivered. * Implement and improve processes by revising workflows, encouraging innovation, and promoting best practices. * Ensure documentation and performance standards through audits, competency reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives. (25%) - Clinical Oversight
* Coordinate patient care delivery based on prioritized needs, ensuring quality, outcomes, and adherence to clinical standards. * Use data to improve care by collecting and analyzing clinical outcomes, supporting evidence-based practices, and maintaining compliance with safety and infection control protocols. * Performs the duties of discipline specific therapist as required. (25%) - Leadership
* Lead and develop staff by mentoring, coaching, counseling, and promoting a professional, respectful work environment aligned with organizational values. * Foster team performance and engagement by recognizing and rewarding performance through routine feedback, addressing conduct and performance issues through corrective actions, and maintaining high standards of accountability and professionalism. * Represent the department in committees, workgroups, and organizational functions, serving as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders. (25%) - Administrative
* Manage staffing operations by overseeing recruitment, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and coverage planning to meet service needs. * Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and payor standards, policies, and procedures. * Assist the Director of Rehabilitation with developing the annual operational budget and ensure the department operates within prescribed budgetary parameters. * Ensure clinical operations are aligned with departmental and organizational strategic goals. (25%)
Education:
- 1. Bachelor's Degree required
- 2. Completion of Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist academic program that satisfies the licensure requirements of the State of Colorado required
Work Experience:
- 7-9 years of professional clinical PT or SLP or OT experience required AND
- Two years minimum of leadership experience required
Licenses:
- PTL-Physical Therapist License - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies required OR
- OT-Occupational Therapist - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies required OR
- SLP-Speech Language Pathologist - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of therapy practices (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy), including treatment methods, modalities, and interprofessional care standards.
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with leadership, staff, and external partners regarding departmental updates, changes, and decisions.
- Thorough understanding of patient safety, infection control, and risk mitigation principles in clinical care environments.
- Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and operational standards related to rehabilitation services at Denver Health.
- Expertise in applying regulatory requirements (e.g., JCAHO, CMS, state licensing bodies) to ensure compliance in clinical operations and documentation practices.
- Strong commitment to patient and staff experience, with proven ability to lead using principles of customer service and patient-centered care.
- Skill in developing staff competencies by assessing learning needs, delivering educational opportunities, and fostering clinical and professional growth.
- Ability to lead and respond to clinical emergencies while ensuring staff readiness and adherence to protocols.
- Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to independently resolve complex issues involving patients, staff, and operations, and escalate appropriately when needed.
- Adherence to ethical standards established by relevant professional boards and licensing agencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for communication, reporting, and management tasks.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems including documentation, data analysis, and quality tracking.
