Day & Zimmermann is currently accepting resumes for our In-Processing Lead in the Berwick,PA region.

Position Summary:

The In-Processing Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the onboarding and in-processing activities for all personnel (employees, contractors, visitors) requiring access to the facility. This role ensures that all individuals meet regulatory, security, safety, and training requirements prior to gaining access to controlled areas. The Lead will liaise with security, HR, training, and technical departments to maintain compliance with DOE/NRC policies, site procedures, and clearance requirements.

This position requires strong organizational leadership, attention to detail, and an ability to apply complex procedural requirements in a high-security, regulated nuclear environment.

Key Responsibilities

Personnel In-Processing Management




  • Lead and manage all aspects of in-processing for incoming personnel, ensuring complete and accurate entry of documentation, background checks, and compliance paperwork.



  • Coordinate with security and HR teams to ensure proper clearance levels (e.g., DOE Q/L clearances) are initiated, tracked, and completed prior to site access.





Regulatory Compliance & Documentation




  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Department of Energy (DOE), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and site-specific regulations and requirements related to personnel access, safety, training, and security.



  • Maintain accurate records of training, clearance status, certifications, and requisite qualifications for site entry.





Training and Safety Requirements




  • Verify that all personnel complete required safety briefings, radiation protection training, site orientation, and other mandatory instruction before accessing controlled work areas.



  • Act as a liaison with Radiation Protection, Health Physics, and Safety organizations to confirm training prerequisites are met.





Communication & Coordination




  • Serve as the primary point of contact for in-processing issues, questions, and escalations.



  • Provide clear guidance and communication to new personnel on site requirements, expectations, and procedures.





Process Improvement




  • Identify opportunities to improve in-processing workflows, documentation systems, and compliance tracking.



  • Develop and implement changes to streamline onboarding while maintaining regulatory and security integrity.





Leadership Responsibilities




  • Supervise support staff or in-processing assistants, providing direction and quality assurance for work products.



  • Report performance metrics, challenges, and compliance statuses to site leadership.





Minimum Qualifications




  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Security Management, or related field preferred.



  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in facility access control, security processing, onboarding, or similar administrative leadership roles - ideally within a DOE, nuclear, government, or high-security environment.



  • Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance as required by the site.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $31,000 - $124,000.

This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
