What to Expect
The Senior Manager Powertrain - Operations, sets the vision and the strategic path for the Production and Maintenance orgs within Powertrain. This role is responsible for leading the production and maintenance teams; work collaboratively with Engineering and cross functional teams to achieve the Safety, People, Quality, Production/Delivery & Cost KPI targets/objectives of the organization. This role is responsible for production and resource planning, coaching, mentoring & developing leaders, launching new programs successfully and daily tactical planning & execution to achieve the build plan and meet safety, quality, rate and cost targets. The person in this role must be capable of guiding the team through complex issues, distill a lot of information/data to solve problems and drive improvements to continuously improve day over day. This Senior Manager provides hands-on support, leadership, and direction to both teams on all operational, people happiness/morale and equipment related matters. The person in this role is responsible for building teams to work cohesively and perform at the highest level keeping the company mission and goals of the organization in mind.

What You'll Do
  • Set the vision and strategic path for the Production and Maintenance orgs within Powertrain and lead the team to achieve the Safety, People, Quality, Production and Cost KPI targets and objectives of the organization
  • Tactical planning to achieve the production build plan with highest safety, quality and yield performance
  • Launch new programs, lead production ramps and product design changes successfully through resource planning, program management and partnering with the NPI, manufacturing engineering and design engineering teams
  • Work with the team to identify production bottlenecks and achieve ramp plans by addressing availability, efficiency and yield constraints on the line. Coach and mentor the team on data collection & analysis, complex problem solving and drive improvements daily
  • Guide the team through root cause analysis, methodical problem solving and first principle thinking. Maintain a culture of adherence to standardized work and compliance to documented processes and procedures to ensure safe practices and building products to quality spec are sustained
  • Coach, mentor and develop the team for growth. Instill process standardization, process audits, standardized training and drive continuous improvement relentlessly
  • Lead the maintenance team on equipment availability, preventive/predictive maintenance programs, project planning, equipment uptime improvements based on downtime data analysis, set up and maintenance of equipment spare parts to achieve availability targets and build rates
  • Be entrepreneurial and make quick decisions in ambiguous situations and build a high performing team, set clear expectations/goals and manage their performance effectively with clear/concise feedback loops
  • Have a good technical understanding of product design intent, processes, equipment theory of operation, identifying bottlenecks, line balancing and work closely with the engineering team to solve problems, increase availability and drive process improvements
  • Work with HR and other teams to improve the morale of the team and create an environment in which team members want to come to work and perform at the highest level

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Electrical or Industrial Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years of leadership and manufacturing experience preferably in automotive industry or a highly technical manufacturing environment
  • The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, self-driven, critical thinker and able to pro-actively communicate with all employees and works well in a fast-paced multi-cultural environment
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies, improve efficiency, increase yield and availability, design of experiments and statistical methods
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands, juggle priorities and meet tight deadlines with diligent follow through
  • Hands-on experience implementing lean methodologies and world class manufacturing practices
  • Ability to use structured problem-solving methods and techniques to successfully resolve production problems such as 8Ds, fishbone diagrams, 5 WHY analysis etc.
  • Ability to foster a close working relationship with team members, management and cross functional groups, highly collaborative and be able to have a positive impact on the overall team
  • High-level leadership and decision-making skills. Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills. A strong sense of urgency and drive to succeed
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office products, Visio, CAD, SPC charts, data analysis tools, JIRAs, Tableau/BI dashboards and project management tools
