Description
Discover your exciting role

The Principal Engineer Electrical (Power) serves as the highest-level technical authority for all electrical power systems across Exentec's EMEA TFM portfolio. This role provides advanced engineering leadership supporting mission-critical environments such as semiconductor fabs, high-performance data centers, and advanced manufacturing facilities.
The Principal Engineer Electrcal (Power) is responsible for power reliability strategy, system design review, protection coordination, large-scale troubleshooting, risk reduction, asset lifecycle planning, and technical governance. They also mentor engineering teams, provide escalation support during electrical events, and help define standards, specifications, and technical products that enhance Exentec's operational excellence.
This position requires deep expertise in medium- and low-voltage systems, robust analytical skills, and the ability to balance long-term engineering strategy with urgent operational needs in a 24O7 environment.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities
  • Serve as Exentec's subject matter expert (SME) for electrical power systems: MV distribution, LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers, PDUs, RPPs, grounding, and protection.
  • Own and maintain corporate engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices for electrical infrastructure.
  • Lead failure mode analysis, root cause investigations, and event reconstruction for power-related incidents.
  • Evaluate new technologies (digital substations, smart switchgear, arc-flash mitigation, AI-enabled monitoring, etc.) to improve reliability and safety.
  • Provide technical sign-off on engineering changes, MOC reviews, new equipment installations, and energization plans.
  • Develop and maintain facility- and region-level power reliability strategies, including redundancy planning (N, N+1, 2N, 2N+1) and reliability modeling.
  • Conduct electrical risk assessments, arc-flash studies, short-circuit analysis, load flow calculations, and relay coordination studies.
  • Lead root-cause investigations for any power disturbances, failures, or near misses.
  • Support capacity planning, peak demand forecasting, and power quality improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze operational data to reduce nuisance trips, ensure selective coordination, and enhance system resiliency.
  • Provide Tier-3 engineering support during electrical events, outages, or abnormal system behavior.
  • Support site teams with complex troubleshooting related to protection tripping, generator/UPS transitions, breaker coordination, and SCADA alarms.
  • Approve switching plans, LOTO strategies for complex systems, and re-energization procedures.
  • Partner with site operations to improve PM programs, testing protocols, and equipment lifecycle strategy.
  • Develop training programs, playbooks, and standards for electrical operations, maintenance, and emergency response.
  • Coach and mentor engineers, supervisors, and technicians across global TFM operations.
  • Lead knowledge-sharing for lessons learned, failure modes, reliability improvements, and new technologies.
  • Contribute to internal digital product development (apps, dashboards, monitoring, predictive maintenance tools).
  • Interface with client engineering teams to ensure alignment on technical requirements, power reliability goals, and future load planning.
  • Provide technical input to proposals, new business pursuits, and pricing for electrical scopes.
  • Present complex engineering topics to non-technical stakeholders in a clear, structured manner.
