What to Expect
As a Tesla Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of a wide array of manufacturing equipment. Supporting the Reliability Engineering Team efforts to improve equipment reliability across Gigafactory Nevada, Battery Module. This position works directly with Reliability Engineers to help execute RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) with an emphasis on; Root Cause Analysis, Unplanned Downtime Data Analysis, PM Development, Equipment Monitoring, Trials, and Training to name a few. You will apply your technical skills and knowledge to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime.
What You'll Do
- Day to day data collection and condition monitoring using dashboards, sensors, and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) techniques to develop reports and present findings
- Diagnose and review equipment failures. Identify the root cause and utilizing common tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagrams, Pareto Charts, and working with the Reliability Engineers to develop and update Equipment FMEA's
- Work on PM Development, Execution, and Training (through RCM Strategies), under the direction of Reliability and Equipment Engineering
- In field drawing and BOM validation to ensure the correct parts and materials are identified and updated within the BOMs and CMMS, including when upgrades or changes are made on the line
- Assist Reliability and Equipment Engineers with asset hierarchy creation and updates, as well as spare parts mapping within the CMMS
- Work with Reliability and Equipment engineering and other cross functional groups to resolve maintenance issues, improve equipment reliability, review procedures, develop maintenance instructions, and minimize equipment downtime
- Follow all aspects of Maintenance Safety protocol (LOTO, 5-S, Arc Flash, etc.), to ensure that the maintenance team operates safely at all times, always leading by example
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of experience maintaining industrial equipment and automation, or as an industrial maintenance technician, or technical military experience in lieu of degree, or equivalent experience
- SAP S4HANA, IBM Maximo, Oracle, Flux or other CMMS experience preferred
- Microsoft Office Suite experience, emphasis on utilizing Microsoft Excel
- Areas of specialization may include one or more of the following: electrical/electronics, mechanical/machining, or automation/PLC/robotics
- Skilled at troubleshooting automation, conveyance, and electromechanical systems
- Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical schematics
- Must have command of English Language, both written and verbal demands
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
