Description
The Appeals Bureau handles all post-conviction litigation for the Queens County District Attorney. In this busy New York City office, Appeals prosecutors draft briefs and participate in oral argument before state appellate courts, respond to post-conviction motions to vacate judgment and set aside sentence, and answer writs of habeas corpus in the federal courts. Qualifications: A candidate must have superior analytical, research, and writing skills. The candidate must have prior experience as an appellate attorney or equivalent work experience. The candidate must be a graduate from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree and be admitted to the New York Bar (or have the ability to obtain admission promptly). Salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $115,000 to $148,000. Pursuant to Public Officers Law Section 3(1), United States citizenship is required of all Assistant District Attorneys upon commencement of their employment, as is New York State residency.
