Electronics Technician - Solder Trainer

Job Summary

Electronic Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and testing electronic control modules.In addition to regular position, work 25% annual hours developing, scheduling, and implementing internal soldering training programs.


Shift: Monday-Thursday 5am-3:30pm

Primary Duties

  • Learn & follow detailed work instructions
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties that may be outside of assigned priorities listed below
  • Check tag and test unit for failure
  • Find and review schematic and board prints
  • Troubleshoot board
  • Repair board by using test equipment and replacing parts with soldering equipment
  • Retest to ensure board passes
  • Keep log of units repaired in CMS system
  • Participate in various improvement activities
  • Complete IPC trainer certification
  • Provide solder training program for new solderers.
  • Provide training and testing to recertify solderers and solder inspectors every two years.
  • Work with Purchasing to purchase training materials.
  • Work with Operations Admin Assistant to run reports showing upcoming and overdue solder training.
  • Schedule training and ensure certifications are printed and posted.
  • Perform regular job functions 75% of annual hours.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with coworkers
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Schematic reading and layout drawing reading
  • Demonstrate proper use of DVM, oscilloscope, tracker and other diagnostic tools
  • Ability to identify different types of electronic components
  • Commitment to meeting production demands and quality requirements
  • Understand Customer requirements as they relate to their job function
  • Ability to identify and address and/or communicate any potential non-conformances
  • Ability to get to work on time with minimal absences

Education / Experience

  • Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or similar discipline and/or equivalent military experience
  • Soldering experience
  • Solder Certification - IPC J Standard or 610 Standard
  • Ability to obtain Solder Trainer Certification
