We are looking for a Quality Engineer, Supervisor to join our 100% EMPLOYEE-OWNED team.

Job Duties

Responsible for ensuring the quality of product being shipped and authorized to hold shipments if quality is suspect. Responsible for supervising a team of Inspectors and Quality Technicians. Perform annual performance reviews. Authorized to recommend hiring and terminating inspectors with Quality Manager and Human Resources approval in compliance with company policies. Prepare and requisition routine Quality supply items. Authorized to appoint personnel authorized to disposition nonconforming material based on position, experience and knowledge of product/process.


  • Manage department employees including job assignments, performance, evaluations, training, development, mentoring, work assignments, problem resolutions, hiring and terminations in accordance with HR policies.
  • Audit the Quality Management System, procedures and processes.
  • Provide regular communication to the Quality Manager.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through timely and effective communication, and through monitoring and responding to customer requests and complaints.
  • Work with Production leadership to ensure Production priorities are understood and met to the extent that the quality of the product is not compromised.
  • Develop methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of internally- and supplier-produced parts and assemblies.
  • Support corporate level projects identified by the Quality Manager.
  • Complete FMEA, FAIs, PPAPs, etc. in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Lead or assist investigations into process or product Quality issues, determine root and contributing causes, drive resolution, assess effectiveness, and ensure the investigation and any new work process is documented.
  • Implement and verify corrective actions.
  • Provide quality metrics, as requested.
  • Oversee Calibration activities.
  • Oversee the functioning and maintenance of departmental equipment and measurement instruments to ensure product and process quality is achieved.
  • Ensure statutory, regulatory and environmental regulations are met
  • Communicate and demonstrate company policies and values
  • Ensure cross departmental communication is accurate and effective.
  • Other ad hoc duties, as assigned.


Minimum Job Requirements


  • Physical - The role is split evenly between floor support and office duties
  • Working Hours - full-time employment
  • Personal Traits - Excellent communication skills with positive teamwork and safety attitude. Conscientious attention to detail and accuracy while able to multi-task and trouble shoot. Must be "quality minded."
  • Displays good leadership qualities. Be a role model for the department and set the standard of productivity, safety and quality for employees of different levels to follow. Has a desire to mentor and develop employees.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Knowledge of quality control, quality assurance and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9000).
  • Disciplined problem-solving skills to assist in root cause analysis knowledge.
  • Experience in resolving internal and external quality issues.
  • Proficient in the fundamentals of quality. E.g., PFMEA, MSA, APQP, FAI, SPC, Cp/CPK, Gage R&R, GD&T.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to motivate teams to obtain high levels of performance to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to act as a professional representative of the company with Supplier, Customers, and External Auditors.
  • Knowledge of basic measurement equipment. E.g. calipers, micrometers, scales.
  • Advanced computer and writing skills. Skilled in the use of Word and Excel.
  • Ability to read, understand and explain blueprints and/or technical specifications.
  • Effective communication skills.

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or another related field.
  • Five years' quality engineering experience in manufacturing environment
  • Three years' supervisory or team lead experience, preferred
  • CQE or CQA, preferred
