Job Summary

The Project Engineer supports the Central Engineering Substation Customer Energy Solutions team by partnering with Client Project Engineers to plan, coordinate, and execute large, multi-discipline engineering projects. These projects support Substation, System, and Transmission Operations. The Project Engineer helps ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and safety, environmental, and quality expectations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Support Client Project Engineers in planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects



  • Review engineering estimates, schedules, drawings, and technical specifications



  • Coordinate engineering package reviews and schedule alignment across disciplines



  • Track engineering deliverables and project milestones



  • Provide technical support during field construction and commissioning activities



  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers



  • Participate in field visits, pre-award meetings, and on-site reviews



  • Support troubleshooting efforts during construction and operations



  • Maintain project data and documentation within engineering systems



  • Prepare progress reports, schedule updates, and financial tracking summaries



  • Support system emergencies and equipment outages as required




Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of applicable engineering and/or design experience

    OR



  • Master's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of related experience



  • Experience in utility operations, construction, substations, steam systems, and/or power generation



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills



  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project)



  • Ability and willingness to perform field visits in substations and switching stations



  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work in active field environments
