Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Responsibilities for this Position

Job Summary:

The Production Support Engineer is responsible for facilitating the transition of hardware development programs into production and ensuring smooth operations during the production phase. This role provides technical support, resolves product and test equipment issues, and collaborates with manufacturing, design engineering, and quality teams to optimize production. Responsibilities include supporting design and first article testing, troubleshooting production issues, conducting root cause analysis and corrective actions, and working with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product launches and continuous improvement to maintain high first-pass yields. Active collaboration with cross-functional teams and involvement in both engineering design and production activities is required. This role will support the products developed by the Airborne Systems business area.

We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences: hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical hardware, using test equipment including oscilloscopes and Ethernet testers, and experience with failure analysis techniques and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the transition of new products from development to full-rate production.
  • Interface with manufacturing and design engineering teams to stay informed on day-to-day operations.
  • Review engineering drawings and documents, including schematics, mechanical drawings, interface control drawings, and user manuals, for comprehension and accuracy, ensuring they meet design specifications and production requirements.
  • Support program milestone reviews, including Test Readiness Review (TRR) and Production Readiness Review (PRR).
  • Support production operations during first article build and test to provide feedback to the engineering design team for manufacturability improvements.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality, while contributing to the development of best practices within the engineering team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to ensure smooth product launches and maintain high first-pass yields.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of troubleshooting processes, root cause analyses, and implemented solutions.
  • Engage in program Change Control Boards (CCBs) to manage changes for production items.
  • Create and support the resolution of Problem Reports (PRs) by analyzing, prototyping, and recommending changes to improve product yield.
  • Participate in Failure Review Boards (FRBs) and Material Review Boards (MRBs), supporting the disposition of test failures and non-conforming material.
  • Investigate and respond to questions from customers, stakeholders, and suppliers.
  • Support the development of program proposals and engineering change proposals (ECPs) to ensure sufficient effort is captured for production support.
  • Contribute to product roadmap evolution and process improvement discussions.
