Job Description

The Fabricator/Pipe Fitter/Rigger position will be responsible for supporting plant operations related to fabrication, pipe fitting, and rigging.



Shift: Afternoon



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Fabrication



  • Cuts, shapes, assembles, and joins materials (primarily metal) to create custom parts and products (freelance and as specified in drawings)


Pipe Fittings



  • Lay-out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems for steam, hot water, compressed air, conveying systems and chilled water according to specifications and drawings.
  • Prepares pipe, using saws, pipe cutter, cutting torch, pipe cutting machine, bender and threader.
  • Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, plastic and associated valves (i.e. gate, ball, globe, check valves, etc.)


Rigging



  • Utilize chain fall hoists, A-frames, forklifts and other material handling equipment to facilitate the removal and installation of large motors, pumps, gear boxes, etc.
  • Attach rigging (pulleys, blocks etc.) to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps. Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support heavy equipment or materials.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must past a welding and fabrication test to qualify.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



  • Proficient in welding (TIG, MIG, and Stick), soldering, brazing and plastic welding.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years' relative experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Licenses or certifications (journeyman) in pipefitting, welding or rigging a plus.
  • Read technical drawings and schematic diagrams
