Job Summary:

Assumes managerial responsibility for the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum for the School of Nursing under the direction of the Dean. Chairs the Academic Affairs committee. Guides and mentors faculty in academic matters; demonstrates professionalism and self-development appropriate to education, research and practice. Formulates and updates school policies. Manages disciplinary matters for students, staff and faculty, making recommendation when appropriate to the Dean. Directs the Course Coordinators with item writing and item analysis for each cohort during the academic year. Responsible for updating the student handbook, faculty manual and academic calendar. Completes clinical evaluations for all faculty.

Position Responsibilities

Oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum in the School of Nursing

Anticipates potential crises and reprioritizes the workload of the faculty. Advises the Dean related to faculty needs and faculty hiring needs. Proactively evaluates problems and helps develop solutions related to faculty workload both didactically and clinically. Establishes and maintains working relationships with clinical unit directors and managers. Consistently keeps abreast of curriculum needs and makes recommendations to the Dean. Conducts research to evaluate the effectiveness of the ATI testing program, NCLEX-RN review courses and other SON initiatives. Manages ATI ordering and billing for each cohort. Leads faculty in curriculum revision when deemed necessary. Leads faculty in Systematic Program Evaluation. Orientates new adjunct faculty. Reviews item writing and item analysis with new faculty, and continues to educate faculty with in an ongoing manner. Completes pre and post examination review in conjunction with each Course Coordinator and course team. Maintains student grievance log and grievance documentation. Chairs the Academic Affairs committee and makes recommendations to the Dean and the faculty organization committee. Maintains and edits the yearly academic calendar, student handbook and faculty manual.

Coordinates the use of clinical facilities.

Evaluates clinical sites for appropriateness and makes recommendations to the Dean. Maintains contact with clinical site leaders and visits sites routinely and evaluates clinical faculty. Recommends valuable agenda topics for Clinical Partners Meetings. Anticipates clinical needs and discusses variations with faculty and Dean in advance semester offerings. Consistently communicates clinical site needs to Virtua clinical education department in a timely manner. Schedules clinical faculty for all clinical rotations.

Positively promotes the mission, philosophy and outcomes of the School Nursing.

Leads others in support of the mission, philosophy, and outcomes of the school. Demonstrates leadership at school committee meetings. Chairs the Academic affairs committee. Investigates faculty and student infractions and makes recommendations to the Dean.

Facilitates a successful transition of faculty and students into and progression throughout the nursing program.

Consistently designs and implements orientations and workshops that meet the needs of the faculty in conjunction with the Faculty Affairs chair person. Participates in new student orientation utilizing time- efficient and creative strategies that meet the needs of the students. Mentors faculty in the use of interactive and creative teaching strategies. Consistently provides evidence from research to validate teaching strategies and facilitate faculty decision-making regarding the curriculum.

Participates in the activities of the Faculty Organization.

Consistently leads others in achieving the outcomes of the Faculty Organization committee. Mentors faculty in leadership skills for chairing committee meetings.

Participates in the fiscal and day-to-day operations of the School of Nursing.

Consistently designs ways to reduce operating costs in the School without sacrificing quality of the program. Institutes measures to promote safety for students and faculty.

Educates faculty on troubleshooting technical problems with the School's electronic equipment and A/V systems.

Position Qualifications Required:

Required Experience: 5 years administrative academic experience

Required Education: Doctoral degree preferred, Registered professional Nurse

Training / Certification / Licensure: New Jersey Registered Professional Nurse License, BLS

Annual Salary: $110,912 - $177,972 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
