Columbia University's Department of Dermatology invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Professor on the tenure track. This position is part of a strategic expansion under the leadership of the Department Chair, Dr. Aimee Payne, aimed at advancing the department's legacy of transformative research and clinical innovation.

About Columbia Dermatology:

Columbia Dermatology has over a century-long tradition of excellence in dermatologic research, education, and patient care. Our faculty have pioneered landmark discoveries including:



  • The use of corticosteroids for autoimmune skin diseases
  • Development of the antifungal agent nystatin
  • Innovations in photopheresis and Janus kinase inhibitors
  • Advances in precision medicine, tissue engineering, and diagnostics



The department is internationally recognized for its contributions to skin cancer, autoimmunity, bioengineering, wound healing, translational science, and more.

Responsibilities:




  • Lead and expand research initiatives within the Irving Comprehensive Skin Cancer Center
  • Develop an independent, externally funded research program in basic, translational, or clinical dermatology
  • Collaborate across CUIMC and Columbia University to foster interdisciplinary research
  • Mentor trainees and junior faculty
  • Contribute to teaching and service within the department and university



Qualifications:



  • Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and scholarship.
  • Commitment to advancing dermatologic science and improving patient outcomes.
  • Experience or interest in skin cancer research.
  • Eligibility for appointment at the Associate Professor level within CUIMC.
