| Essential Job Duties |
Biomedical Engineering at NC State is a supportive, highly collaborative community driven by a shared mission: to improve human quality of life through rigorous study, analysis, research, and the design of innovative technologies that benefit the people of North Carolina and the broader global community.
In this role, you will join a vibrant department that values interdisciplinary thinking and real-world impact. We seek outstanding faculty candidates conducting research in areas thatcomplement or expand our strengths in Biomedical Microdevices, Rehabilitation Engineering, Biomedical Imaging, Pharmacoengineering, and Regenerative Medicine.
You will have the opportunity to grow and sustain an independent research program while collaborating across engineering, basic sciences, and clinical disciplines. The position includes a primary appointment at NC State University with tenure home within the College of Engineering, access to shared resources at both NC State and UNC-Chapel Hill, and laboratory space located in Engineering Building 3 on NC State's Centennial Campus-at the heart of the College of Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish, maintain, and grow an independent, externally funded research program in Biomedical Engineering.
- Engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations with engineering faculty, basic science researchers, and/or clinical investigators.
- Contribute to the department's research mission through scholarship that advances biomedical technologies and improves human health.
- Teach and contribute to undergraduate and graduate education in biomedical engineering, in areas aligned with your expertise.
- Mentor undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral trainees and contribute to a supportive, inclusive academic environment.
- Participate in service activities that support the department, college, and broader academic community.
If you are a scholar looking to build an impactful biomedical engineering research program in a collaborative environment, who is motivated by translating research into technologies that improve human health, and is energized by teaching, mentoring and shaping the next generation, we encourage you to apply.
This position is for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in all areas related to Biomedical Engineering. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. |
| Other Responsibilities |
In addition to core responsibilities, there will be occasional opportunities to take on additional duties that support the department's academic and research mission. These may include contributing to undergraduate and graduate education, likely teaching courses in pharmacoengineering or a closely related area, and participating in activities that strengthen research, training, and mentoring across the department. |
