The Payroll Office, within Accounting and Fiscal Services, provides professional payroll services to UCI Campus and Medical Center for over 40,000 employees and two pay schedules, monthly and biweekly; ensures payroll is timely and accurate in accordance with UC Policy, Federal and State regulations; processes payroll production for UCI Campus; manages the UCI Campus time and attendance system; and provides relevant customer service to the UCI community.
Your Role on the Team
Uses payroll professional concepts. Interprets organizational policies and procedures and advises departmental payroll and partner offices. Applies policy to resolve a variety of payroll issues. Works on complex payroll problems where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Audits payrolls to assure quality and accuracy of pay. Processes payroll related transactions in UCPath. Serves as a subject matter expert in UCPath payroll processes and in UCPath HCM system payroll module upstream and downstream functions. Provides tier two, third level complexity customer service.

- Interprets pay policies (for example, Retirement and FICA eligibility, vacation, leave of absence, workers compensation, union contracts, government regulations, withholding exemptions, et cetera), and ensures appropriate amounts / deductions are calculated and applied to the various accounts correctly. 5%

- Compile reports for analysis, interpret data, and analyze results using statistical techniques.Audit On-cycle Payroll. Reconcile data from various sources. Metrics and reporting. Provides analysis of moderate payroll projects. 0%
- Transact UC payroll: Approve second-level adjustments processed by departmental payroll transactions. Process absence management and leave accrual adjustments. Process exception, off cycle and overpayment transactions, obtain approval, monitor in payroll system until completed, and validate exception transactions. 15%
- Business process development 5%
- Customer Service:Manage assigned cases in UCI EEC CRM system. Prepare/package in documents findings and solutions and present to UCI Campus departments, UCI partner offices, and UCPath Center. Resolve escalated cases requiring special handling. 25%
- Provides background information to higher level Payroll Analysts for resolution. 5%
- Provides ad hoc payroll consulting to departmental payroll processors and develops and delivers presentations to key stakeholders (HR, Dept Leaders, etc.) on payroll related actions and updates. 10%
- Applies professional concepts in analyzing and reviewing payroll activity to identify errors. Complete payroll forensics, perform root cause analyses, determine correction procedure, and coordinate with departments and partner offices. 0%

- Experience working with, and interpreting labor contracts, compensation and classification plans and personnel programs/polices. Preferred
- Analytical and computational skills necessary to calculate percentages when calculating payroll, leave, etc. Required
