Description

We're looking for someone who knows how to buy electricity and natural gas in deregulated markets - and win.

Not someone who studies the market.
Someone who works it.

This role is for a commercial operator who understands how non-regulated energy markets actually function - pricing cycles, supplier behavior, contract traps, renewal timing, and risk positioning - and knows how to secure the right deal at the right time.

You will lead procurement strategy for nationally based clients across competitive electricity and gas markets. You'll run RFPs, negotiate directly with suppliers, evaluate bids, manage contract risk, and ensure execution is clean from pricing through enrollment.

If you've sat across from retail suppliers, pushed back on pricing, structured terms, and closed deals - this is your lane.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies in deregulated power and gas markets.
  • Run competitive pricing events (RFPs) and manage supplier outreach.
  • Analyze bids, model savings, and make clear, confident recommendations.
  • Negotiate pricing, contract structure, credit terms, and risk exposure.
  • Identify volatility risk, basis risk, termination exposure, and operational constraints before they become problems.
  • Oversee contract execution and post-award implementation.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships - and hold them accountable.
  • Lead and mentor analyst-level team members to ensure consistent execution.
Requirements
What You Must Bring
  • 7+ years in energy procurement within competitive (non-regulated) electricity and/or natural gas markets.
  • Direct supplier negotiation experience.
  • Strong understanding of wholesale drivers, load shapes, and risk structures.
  • Ability to break down pricing components and contract language quickly.
  • Confidence to advise clients on timing, structure, and risk tolerance.
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Leadership experience preferred - but market credibility matters more.

Bachelor's degree preferred. Real market experience required.

Who This Is For
  • Someone who understands ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO, MISO, etc.
  • Someone who has bought block-and-index, fixed, layered, or structured products.
  • Someone who knows when to wait - and when to lock.
  • Someone who sees through supplier margin.

If that's you, let's talk.

Total Compensation - $120,000-$140,000

Physical Demands

  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, occasional stooping, and reaching.
  • May require lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires a normal range of vision and hearing with or without accommodations.
  • Position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
