What You Will Do:

The Manufacturing Plant EHS Manager role requires a technically skilled, culturally driven EHS Process Manager who is a self-starter to lead critical safety and environmental initiatives within a complex, matrixed manufacturing environment. This is a performance based, 12-year, O&M contract providing hard services of MEP equipment within the facility, excluding the manufacturing and production equipment. The objective is to maintain a seamless environment by assuring that equipment is performing to specifications to facilitate uninterrupted manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have strong maintenance/hands on technical experience and leadership background. A professional with 7+ years of experience who thrives on influencing without authority, driving continuous improvement, and embedding EHS values into operational excellence. You'll own and elevate EHS processes and be a strategic partner across functional departments.

How You Will Do It:

Process Ownership & Compliance

  • Implement JCI EHS policies and procedures aligned with OSHA, EPA, and ISO standards (14001/ 45001/ 9001)

  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses (JHA, HAZOP), and ergonomic evaluations.

  • Ensure compliance across multiple reporting lines and operational units within a matrixed structure.

  • Manage environmental reporting, waste characterization, and regulatory submissions.

  • Perform regular safety audits and inspections, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are taken.

  • Partner with JCI Legal on regulatory and compliance topics.

Data management with EHS information system.

  • Incident Management

  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective measures.

  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and safety-related data within the digital management system and prepare reports as regularly.

Culture & Engagement

  • Champion a "Commitment to Safety" culture through behavior-based safety programs and peer-led accountability.

  • Serve as a key liaison with regulatory agencies and external safety organizations.

  • Facilitate safety committees and employee engagement forums to build ownership across roles and departments.

  • Influence plant and functional leaders to integrate EHS priorities into daily decision-making.

Training & Communication

  • Deliver tailored EHS training programs that resonate with both direct and indirect stakeholders.

  • Communicate safety goals, performance metrics, and improvement plans transparently to multiple layers of leadership.

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to cross-functional teams, helping them champion EHS in their own domains.

Performance & Analytics

  • Track leading indicators such as near-misses, safety observations, and training compliance.

  • Use lagging indicators to validate program effectiveness and identify improvement areas.

  • Drive KPI performance.

  • Ensure continuance of operations by strategic and tactical decisions and action based on data, trends, observances, and reporting.

What We Look For:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.

  • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably in HVAC

  • Proven success in influencing matrixed teams and driving cultural transformation.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, ISO 14001/ 45001/ 9001, and behavior-based safety systems.

  • Proficient in EHS digital platforms, data analytics, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, tailored to varied audiences.

Preferred

  • EHS Certification (CSP, CHMM, CIH, PE or eligible for certification)

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodology

  • Influential Partner: Navigated complex reporting lines and earns trust across departments

  • Cross- Functional Collaborator: Aligns EHS goals with operations, engineering, HR and quality teams

  • Strategic Communicator: Tailors messaging to diverse stakeholders for maximum engagement

  • Adaptive Problem Solver: Adjusts tactics based on shifting priorities and team dynamics

This is an onsite role at our Glendale, Kentucky location.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $89,00 - $134,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
