General Purpose

The Retail Loan Assistant I is an entry level position that works closely with the Relationship Manager, Credit Analyst, and other Departments in Loan Operations to gather, compile, and organize supporting information to create loan packets and to close loans. They assist lenders with ensuring that loans comply with Alpine Bank's Loan Policy and adheres to any compliance or regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Works under general supervision following established processes created by management and understands their work is reviewed routinely via file review processes.
  • Possesses a basic knowledge of lending including our loan process, Loan Policy, compliance, and the multiple operating systems we utilize to process loans (i.e., Abrigo, Xperience, Synergy).
  • Focuses on learning how to prioritize and organize loans, as well as establishing processes to help them effectively complete their job.
  • Skips loans in the queue to focus on working simple real estate secured loans that have a smaller loan and aggregate loan amount, do not have a large number of borrowers or related parties, or multiple pieces of collateral.
  • Processes loans in a timely manner, meeting service level agreements, with help guidance from staff.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills to start creating relationships with the lenders as well as the other teams we work with.
  • Manages a minimum volume of loans (14-20) at any given time.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of this position.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:



  • Uses critical thinking skills to consider multiple sides of an issue and weighing consequences before making final decision.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task while being detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in the most effective manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications, including but not limited to, Adobe, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficient in computer keyboarding / typing skills.
  • Technologically adept; willing and able to learn new systems.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with a team.


Education or Formal Training:



  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid NMLS License, required.


Experience:



  • An understanding of insurance, title work, loan documents, regulatory documentation, financial data, ratios, and security instruments is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.


Working Conditions

Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some on-site attendance is required.

Physical Activities:

These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required; it would require the ability to reach for and lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Starting Rate of Pay is between $18.50 and $23.50 per hour, depending on experience.
