FTE: 0.1_, Shift: Days_, Schedule: Variable_ Position Summary The system Nephrologist medical director for acute/inpatient dialysis will provide strategic leadership and clinical oversight for hospital inpatient dialysis programs. This physician leader will be responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Partnering in a dyad structure with the program manager, the medical director will help shape program structure, drive quality improvement, oversee reporting, and serve as the subject matter expert for inpatient dialysis services across the health system.
Responsibilities:
- Provide medical leadership and oversight for all acute inpatient dialysis services across the health system.
- Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based dialysis care.
- Partner with the operational manager to design and maintain program structure, staffing models, and workflow efficiency.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring outcomes, patient safety metrics, and adherence to best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accreditation regulations (CMS, Joint Commission, etc.).
- Oversee medical staff credentialing, privileging, and ongoing professional practice evaluation for physicians and advanced practice providers involved in dialysis care.
- Provide education and training for medical staff, nursing, and allied health professionals on dialysis-related care and emerging practices.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership, nursing, and ancillary services to integrate dialysis care into the broader inpatient care continuum.
- Collaborate with the ambulatory network to integrate care into the entire care continuum.
- Serve as the primary physician liaison for regulatory surveys, audits, and external reviews related to dialysis services.
- Review and approve clinical documentation, reporting, and data submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board Certification in Nephrology.
- Demonstrated expertise in acute inpatient dialysis.
- Prior leadership in dialysis or hospital-based programs preferred.
- Unrestricted medical license (or ability to obtain) in Washington State.
- Active DEA license and eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileging.

Pay and Benefit Expectations We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $416,000.00 - $416,000.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
