Job Summary

The Traveling Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing field operations on large-scale colocation and hyperscale data center construction projects. This role oversees labor assignments, site safety, productivity, scheduling, quality control, and coordination with trade contractors and suppliers. The Traveling Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager to guide the project team, ensure compliance with industry standards, and deliver projects on time and within scope. This position requires frequent travel to project sites and the ability to manage dynamic project schedules while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and performance.

Job Responsibilities



  • Manage and control labor assignments, overseeing daily field operations, productivity, and crew performance
  • Lead daily stretch and flex meetings focused on safety and clear communication of labor goals
  • Conduct jobsite walks every two hours to monitor safety, quality, and production, addressing unsafe practices or installation issues immediately
  • Meet with Project Leads to review daily production, constraints, safety concerns, and quality updates; communicate findings to the Project Manager and update project tracking systems
  • Approve daily time entries and verify accuracy against sign-in documentation; address repeat compliance issues as needed
  • Ensure daily reports are completed accurately and include clear explanations of production gains or losses
  • Complete weekly pre-planning for upcoming work and adjust plans as needed based on schedule changes or project requirements
  • Oversee quality assurance for installation practices in alignment with BICSI and industry standards
  • Track project milestones, manage schedule deviations, and support the timely delivery of project objectives
  • Coordinate with trade contractors and suppliers to maintain workflow efficiency and ensure material availability
  • Maintain oversight of work performed in jobsite trailer environments and active construction settings


Job Requirements



  • Ability to travel extensively, including assignments ranging from 2 to 12 months
  • Availability to return home approximately twice monthly for 2 to 3 days, typically Friday through Tuesday morning
  • Experience working in colocation and new construction data center environments
  • Strong knowledge of BICSI standards and data center construction practices preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Bluebeam, and Adobe
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work on ladders or lifts, and remain active on jobsites for extended periods
  • Ability to enforce safety protocols and maintain high standards of workmanship and productivity


Education



  • High School Diploma or GED required


Work Experience



  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structured cabling, fiber optic installation, or data center construction
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or superintendent-level role
