Job Summary


The Repair Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing new repair solutions within an aerospace Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment. This role supports business and operational objectives by creating component drawings, drafting technical repair procedures, and collaborating with procurement and operations teams to deliver efficient repair schemes in a short lead time setting. The Repair Engineer works within a cross-functional High Performance Work Team and ensures all repairs meet regulatory, quality, and environmental, health, and safety standards. This position is based in Beltsville, Maryland.

Job Responsibilities




  • Develop new repair processes and component drawings to support MRO operations.



  • Draft and maintain technical procedures in compliance with internal quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements.



  • Maintain working knowledge of regulatory processes and approvals for aerospace repair stations.



  • Interpret and apply government regulations, government orders, advisory circulars, and applicable industry standards.



  • Collaborate with procurement to identify and qualify suppliers for repair solutions.



  • Partner with operations to implement and support new repair schemes.



  • Provide technical support to production teams and train employees on repair procedures and product design as needed.



  • Participate in document review and approval processes for internal procedures.



  • Support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits and assist with corrective action activities.



  • Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders regarding technical inquiries and project updates.



  • Contribute to daily production execution as an active member of a cross-functional team.




Job Requirements




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.



  • Minimum of three years of experience in an aerospace MRO or aftermarket repair station manufacturing environment.



  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to Part 145 Repair Stations and related quality standards preferred.



  • Experience interpreting government regulations, FAA advisory circulars, and the Code of Federal Regulations preferred.



  • Strong technical writing skills preferred.



  • Ability to analyze complex problems, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.



  • Ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions based on cost, benefit, and operational impact.



  • Ability to promote continuous improvement and support innovation initiatives.



  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.



  • Must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-controlled information in compliance with ITAR regulations.



  • Must be able to comply with DOT drug testing requirements as applicable to Repair Station Certificate guidelines.



  • Must reside within reasonable commuting distance of Beltsville, Maryland; relocation assistance is not provided.




Education




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline required.




Work Experience




  • At least three years of relevant experience in an aerospace MRO or repair station manufacturing environment required.



  • Experience supporting audits and corrective action processes preferred.
