About the Role

MWH Constructors, Inc. ("MWH"), is seeking a qualified Senior Estimator to support preconstruction efforts on critical water, wastewater, and advanced water treatment plant projects for municipal and industrial clients (including advanced technology sector clients) in Phoenix, AZ. Estimators knowledge on self-performing trades for process mechanical and cast in place concrete, and underground pipe is a plus.

Essential Functions



  • Prepare cost estimates on proposals, projects and studies and ensure that the content of the estimate is complete, accurate and meets the requirements of the Estimating Manager.
  • Plan, coordinate, review, verify and analyze all aspects of estimates and estimate presentation.
  • Knowledge of productivities, material prices, and means / methods depending on varying project conditions.
  • Review project documents such as specifications and drawings to identify risks and opportunities related to competitive pricing.
  • Coordinate and review the variable estimating factors in each area with Engineering, Procurement and Operations.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to the Estimating Team in the preparation of all levels of estimates ranging in scope and complexity.
  • Responsible for estimate's accuracy (upon completion of the estimate and summarization of all detailed man-hours, material, construction and home office costs).
  • Responsible for conducting takeoffs, pricing structure development, derived quantities, quantity assumption, and cost allowances.
  • Solicit, obtain and verify construction quotations for facilitation of construction projects, addenda's and contract changes.
  • Solicit, obtain and verify subcontractor questions for construction projects and ensures compliance with construction documents.
  • Compile and analyze quotations and bids to ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Develop reports for all review processes.
  • Provide constructability reviews and guidance to the operations team to ensure the preliminary costs of the projects.
  • Actively research, solicit, and develop a network of relationships within the supply chain.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontractors, and productivity analysis reports in order to continuously improve estimating accuracy.


Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent combination of construction field experience, skills and training may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 10 years of previous experience estimating for heavy construction or industrial projects, with working knowledge of construction equipment/techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and required standards.
  • Must be proficient in using MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat and/or Blue Beam.
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with others.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in the water/wastewater sector.
  • Knowledge or experience in CMAR, CMS, Design-Build or Hard-Bid estimates.
  • Construction field experience.
  • Cost control and scheduling exposure is a plus.
  • HCSS HeavyBid software knowledge is a plus.
  • Planswift On-screen Take Off knowledge is a plus.
  • Agtek software knowledge is a plus.


Compensation



  • Anticipated salary for this position is budgeted at $175,000 - $180,000 per year
